Journals
Health Economics (Wiley)
This journal will publish articles on all aspects of health economics: theoretical contributions, empirical studies, economic evaluations and analyses of health policy from the economic perspective. Its scope will include the determinants of health and its definition and valuation, as well as the demand for and supply of health care; planning and market mechanisms for achieving equilibrium; micro-economic evaluation of individual procedures and treatments; and evaluation of the performance of health-care systems in terms of equity and allocative efficiency. Editorials and book reviews will be regular features. Occasionally commissioned authoritative reviews will be published, special issues will bring together contributions on a single topic, and a debate section will facilitate rapid exchange of views on topical issues. Contributions related to problems in both developed and developing countries are welcome.

Economics and Human Biology (Elsevier)
Economics and Human Biology is devoted to the exploration of the effect of socio-economic processes on human beings as biological organisms. Research covered in this (triennial) interdisciplinary journal is not bound by temporal or geographic limitations. Themes include:
- The impact of socio-economic processes, such as industrialization, urbanization, agricultural policy, technological change and commercialization and the degree of penetration of the world food system on biological welfare and health outcomes.
- The effects of government intervention programs, as well as macroeconomic and public health policy on the human organism at either the individual or the population level.
- Feedback effects from human biological outcomes to economic growth at the national, regional and local levels insofar as healthier individuals invariably lead longer more creative and more productive lives, influencing thereby the course of economic development.
- The complex symbiotic relationship between such anthropometric indicators as weight, birth-weight, physical stature and the body-mass-index, as well as morbidity and mortality, on the one hand and socio-economic processes or events on the other.
- The conceptualization of health and health models in economic theory.
- The measurement of poverty, malnutrition and psychological deprivation and the role of health and income inequality in the persistence of poverty traps.
- The biological components of the quality of life: how well does the human organism itself thrives in its socio-economic and epidemiological environment.
- Health and economic systems; environment and health; health in the transition economies.
- Statistical, econometric, methodological and philosophical issues associated with the measurement and modeling of these relationships.
Contributions in auxology, anthropometry, biocultural anthropology, demography, development economics, economic history, epidemiology, health economics, human biology, human nutrition, health sciences, medicine, physical anthropology, public health and sociology are welcomed.

Applied Health Economics and Health Policy (Open Mind Journals)
The focus of Applied Health Economics and Health Policy is economics in an "applied" and "policy" context. It encourages multidisciplinary analyses and team-based projects involving academics, policy analysts and health professionals.
Internationally, economists are late entrants to the many health debates. Applied Health Economics and Health Policy addresses the contribution of economics to those debates, and promotes international dialogue.
The issues, not the economic techniques, therefore define the boundaries of the questions put forward in this journal. Economists and those working in the health policy area easily recognise the value of this unique approach.

Journal of Mental Health Policy and Economics (International Center of Mental Health Policy and Economics)
The Journal of Mental Health Policy and Economics publishes high quality empirical, analytical and methodologic papers focusing on the application of health and economic research and policy analysis in mental health. It offers an international forum to enable the different participants in mental health policy and economics - psychiatrists involved in research and care and other mental health workers, health services researchers, health economists, policy makers, public and private health providers, advocacy groups, and the pharmaceutical industry - to share common information in a common language. The journal also serves as a point of reference for governmental and international organisations and will develop an international group of informed readers, who will in turn be able to disseminate policy information to local organisations. The overall aim is to improve mental health policy, planning and delivery in all countries on an interdisciplinary research basis for the benefit of patients with mental and addictive disorders.
