The Position: The International Health Economic Modelling Expert collaborates with statisticians, epidemiology managers, health economists and other outcomes researchers in order to produce state of the art pharmacoeconomic models that document the economic value of our lifecycle drugs towards payers and other relevant stakeholders of pricing and reimbursement decisions. The International Health Economic Modelling Expert develops pharmacoeconomic models and provides expert advice on the choice of methods, other technical aspects of economic models, quality assurance in the model production process, and presentation of model results in pricing and reimbursement submissions and scientific publications. Providing effective support for local operating companies in the local adaptation of pharmacoeconomic models represents another important aspect of the role.

Who you are: You have a minimum of 3 years experience with developing pharmacoeconomic models. You have strong business focus and analytical skills as well as excellent communication. You also posses a solid understanding of the pharmacoeconomic requirements of major payers and HTA agencies, as well as sound knowledge of economics, statistics, and outcomes research methods which is ideally documented with a number of high quality scientific publications.

Pharmacoeconomist / Phamacoeconomic Analyst: Brogan Inc.

Brogan Inc., a renowned health care data, research and consulting firm based in Ottawa, is looking for a competent pharmacoeconomist to join its Health Economics team to undertake pharmacoeconomic evaluation, systematic reviews/meta-analysis and outcomes research.

Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Gather and synthesize clinical and economic information pertaining to clinical trials, outcomes research and health economic evaluation from both published and unpublished sources and conduct systematic review of literature;
  • Develop pharmacoeconomic models using TreeAge Data Pro(R) or Crystal Ball(R), analyze outcome and cost data, conduct sensitivity analyses (One-way, Two-way, Monte Carlo Simulation), and write reports;
  • Prepare project proposals and expressions of interest for new and existing business development opportunities; and
  • Participate in weekly meetings and work within a team environment.

Essential Qualifications

The candidate must possess the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of a graduate degree, or equivalent with a combination of education and experience, in health economics, economics, statistics, or mathematics, with some coursework/training in epidemiology or health services research;
  • A minimum of two years of hands-on training in conducting pharmacoeconomic evaluation and systematic review/meta-analysis of literature using standard healthcare decision tools, e.g., TreeAge Data Pro(R), Crystal Ball(R), Risk(R) or Arena(R);
  • Knowledge of methodologies for the economic evaluation of pharmaceuticals and devices;
  • Ability to understand, express and apply evaluation concepts and methods and to develop indicators and outcome measures;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills;
  • Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment, as well as independently; and
  • Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Some pharmaceutical policy development experience;
  • A clear knowledge of the Canadian healthcare setting and priorities; and
  • Previous working experience in a pharmaceutical company, consulting firm or in a healthcare research institute.

The York Health Economics Consortium wish to appointment a Project Director: Pharmacoeconomics and a Senior Consultant: Pharmacoeconmics.

York Health Economics Consortium (YHEC) is a health economics consulting company owned by the University of York. It provides a wide range of consultancy services, including economic modelling, economic evaluation and applied research and training. Organisations commissioning work include the Department of Health, the NHS, other public sector research organisations (e.g. National Audit Office) and a wide range of major pharmaceutical and health care companies. YHEC often collaborates with other University Departments in York and beyond as well as other health research organisations.

Due to continued expansion, YHEC is looking to strengthen its senior management team. We are currently looking to appoint a Project Director as well as a Senior Consultant to strengthen our research team. The roles will focus predominantly on pharmacoeconomic research studies, however, YHEC researchers are expected to be flexible and there will be opportunities to work on studies commissioned by public sector organisations.

The Consortium’s work will appeal to those who enjoy a wide range of applied research projects, using both qualitative and quantitative analysis. Candidates need to show willingness to work with and lead project teams and work closely with clients. Candidates will also need to prove their credibility in front of clients many of whom are in senior positions in their organisations. Both roles will involve travel within the UK to meet with clients as well as occasional international travel.
