In our Global Business Management Support (GBMS) department in Allschwil (Switzerland) we are searching a Manager Health Economics to support the growing need for market access strategies and HTA dossiers for in-line products (TRACLEER® and ZAVESCA®) as well as the strong pipeline of drugs currently in phase II and III.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Develop market access strategies and value propositions for in-line products and drugs in development
- Develop value / pricing & reimbursement / HTA dossiers supporting formulary inclusion, reimbursement and pricing
- Design and implement health economic studies - from study concept stage to final report, including burden of illness studies, PRO/QoL studies, drug utilization reviews, prospective or retrospective observational studies and database analyses
- Build global cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses and adapt these to country-specific requirements
- Perform evidence-based literature searches, summarize results, and provide interpretation of findings
- Develop and/or review abstracts, posters, and scientific publications derived from clinical and health economic studies
- Provide input into clinical trial and clinical development plans; ensure inclusion of endpoints and study populations relevant for reimbursement & pricing
- Provide input into business plans
- Work closely with Business Teams, Clinical Development Teams, and Affiliates; represent Health Economics function at internal and external meetings (if necessary)
- Build relationships with internal & external stakeholders; develop and maintain a strong professional health economic network
- Identify, select, and oversee consultants and CROs executing health economic projects
Education, Skills and Competencies:
- Advanced degree in Economics, Health Economics (or similar), Pharmacy and/or Medicine (preferably Master/MBA/PhD or equivalent degree)
- At least 2 years of experience in conducting health economic and/or outcomes research for pharmaceutical and/or medical device products in the pharmaceutical industry or other closely related area (e.g., contract research organization)
- Strong strategic as well as analytical / technical skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, other languages (French, German) would be a plus
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team

Bench International has been retained exclusively by a leading global investment banking, securities and investment management firm, to identify a science/ technology-focused Associate to join the Firm’s Global Investment Research Division - Biotechnology Investment Research team. This position will report to the Managing Director/Biotechnology Analyst and will be based in New York City.
The Associate - Biotechnology Research Team will support the life science (biotech and other life sciences) sector senior investment analysts to develop the Firm’s scientific and medical knowledge base. Research coverage will target small-to-mid cap companies in the biomedical industry, focusing on important therapeutic areas, emerging companies, and technologies as they relate to investment opportunities. This individual will be expected to conduct primary research and due diligence on medical technologies and products; attend scientific and medical conferences, scouting all information at once and building relationships; articulate early stage compounds/products in development with credibility; attend investment conferences, including those focused on emerging companies; interact with thought leaders in the healthcare industry; and assist in organizing client-sponsored thematic conferences on diseases/technologies for investors. The incumbent will produce initiation reports covering trends and innovations on selected diseases/technologies, to include assessment of a disease/technology plus qualitative discussions on 5 to 10 related companies, and reports to update each disease/technology every 6-12 months, including new developments from recent medical/industry conferences. S/he must also pass examinations on Series 7, 63, 86 and 87 within one year on the job.
An MD degree with 2-5 years’ drug development experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry is required; MBA degree will be a plus. Consulting experience at top tier firm in life science or related industries (e.g. McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Decision Resources, etc.) and/or pharmaceutical/ biotech industry or other relevant business experience is preferable. The successful candidate will have high-level analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills; the ability to convert information relating to companies of interest into standard reports, including coming up to speed on financial side; high-end oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate advanced medical concepts in lay terms; and well-developed decision-making skills. Additional requirements include the ability to work independently, efficiently and cooperatively in a close-knit team environment, and to work flexible hours, travel as required, and meet deadlines. Chief Scientist, European Operations: DxCG

DxCG is the science division of Urix, Inc., a leading provider of business intelligence and predictive modeling solutions in health care designed to promote fair and efficient health care through the use of its state-of-the-art predictive models. DxCG is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.
Over the last few years, DxCG’s international business has grown dramatically, particularly in Germany and the United Kingdom. In January 2006, the German Physician Payment Commission selected DxCG to develop a German version of its risk assessment tool for a health-based payment system to be used in the German statutory health insurance program. More recently, in August of 2007, the German Federal Ministry of Health (Bundesministerium für Gesundheit or BMG) began working with DxCG to utilize the DxCG methodology to implement a national risk adjustment system. Primary responsibilities include:

- Provide analytical training and support to customers based in Europe.

Our ideal candidate will have a background in risk adjustment and predictive modeling with at least 5 years of econometric modeling and/or statistical analysis and at least 5 years of experience working with German health care claims data. Must have a degree in health economics or statistics, PhD preferred. Must be proficient in German and English. Additional languages (especially French and Spanish) are a plus. Also, a familiarity with German and EU privacy laws and regulations governing the use of health care data are a plus.

The role: We are looking to build the capacity of the economics team, and have a vacancy for an economist with experience of undertaking cost-benefit analysis on public policy, especially in the areas of criminal justice, health, the environment or transport.
The economist will work to a director lead and work across the health, civil and criminal justice, and social policy areas to ensure that Matrix uses economic methods that are ‘best in class’ to deliver outstanding research and consultancy. They will be responsible for advising on the design of economic research projects, maintaining a personal awareness and knowledge of economic methods, managing economic research projects, identifying marketing opportunities, and representing Matrix at conferences, seminars and other public events
We are looking for candidates with at least a 2:1 or an MSc in Economics or a related subject, a minimum of 5 years experience as a professional economist, strong analytical capabilities, and a working knowledge of economic concepts and techniques as used in decision-making in the public sector. - Post-graduate qualification (Masters degree minimum) in a healthcare decision science: health economics, epidemiology, decision sciences, health psychology
Experience Required
- Relevant years of practical experience in conducting and managing HEOR studies in an international pharmaceutical industry environment or consultancy
- Experience of economic modelling projects, either as a modeller or project manager
- Experience of patient reported outcome (PRO) projects
- Practical experience of health technology assessment (HTA) or the preparation of P&R submissions
- Strong experience in the preparation and delivery of HEOR communications: abstracts, posters and presentations for scientific conferences; manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals
- Strong experience in working in cross-functional matrix teams
- Experience across several therapeutic areas

Job Duties:
- Align with a therapeutic area team and report to a therapy area Cluster Leader
- Responsible for the development and implementation of health outcomes and economic strategies supporting development teams, product teams, and commercial strategic leadership teams
- Work closely with diverse staff members and provide assistance in a hands-on manner with products in assigned therapeutic area
- Work closely with external investigators in the design and conduct of health outcomes and economic research

Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (doctorate or masters) in health services research, public health, epidemiology, or health economics, medicine, pharmacy, nursing, psychology
- At least 5 years experience working in Outcomes Research in a pharmaceutical company
- In depth knowledge in all of the following: Pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacoeconomics, and Quality of Life research
- Hands on experience and technical proficiency in the evaluation of health care interventions and conducting health economics, health related quality of life, and/or health services research studies for a pharmaceutical company
