Description

A postdoctoral associate position is available for health economists/health service researchers who are interested in the study of pharmacy benefit design, cost-effective prescribing and insurance design using existing large observational data and advanced econometrics tools. The successful candidate will participate in a few federal funded research projects on evaluating the optimal methods to cover essential medications to Medicare beneficiaries with mental disorders, racial and geographic variations in medication use, adherence, and their correlations with medical care use. You are encouraged to develop independent projects along this line of research. The main responsibilities include managing projects, participating in manuscript preparation as a first-author and/or coauthor, and contributing in grant writing.

The position is open until filled and it is a two-year position (2nd renew is subject to 1st year productivity measured by publications and 3rd year renew or transfer to a faculty position is subject to productivity and funding availability.) The award provides a competitive stipend, generous benefits, and opportunities to taking courses within the University of Pittsburgh, participating in teaching activities in the department. This position can potentially be developed to a faculty position.

Qualifications

The candidate should have a PhD, PharmD, MD or other advanced degree in health economics, health policy/services research, or pharmacoeconomics. The position requires strong background in health policy and economics, statistical/econometrics analysis, in the areas of pharmacy benefit design, cost-effectiveness analysis using large existing observational data. Excellent writing skills and independent research abilities are must.
