Global Health Economics Strategy Leader / Senior Health Economist
Location: Switzerland
Salary: EUR 80,000 - EUR 130,000 (CHF Equivalent) plus bonus plus benefits
The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity exists within a growing global pharmaceutical focused on end-of-life care addressing life-threatening conditions. Located within Switzerland and reporting directly to the Head of Pricing & Market Access, this role offers an excellent opportunity to build global experience and deliver Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) data for use within global reimbursement submissions. Knowledge of formulating evidence based data is essential as is the determination to succeed within your profession.
Background
Payors at national and regional level are increasingly demanding evidence on the value of new treatments in terms of formal economic analyses in both the initial pricing and reimbursement applications and in the context of P&R re-negotiations. In parallel, a number of Health Technology Assessment groups are also increasing across different global regions with continued focus on the formalization of country specific and, highly complex, sophisticated analytical techniques.
Furthermore, the business priority of my client is focused on rare diseases that present further methodological problems in the context of generating Health Economic and Outcomes Research evidence.
Cross-functional and International elaboration and execution of integrated Health Economics and Health Outcomes Research programs during product development and life cycle management are critical success factors for business success.
Major Responsibilities
- Develop International Health Economic Research Strategy for new indications in alignment with Medical and Marketing strategies.
- Lead and drive all related studies and analyses: resource utilization studies, cost of care studies, cross-sectional studies, patient chart reviews, meta-analyses, epidemiological analyses etc.
- Ensure full understanding of the target indications, target patient segments, treatment algorithms, market environment and business environment
- Enhance brand value through the elaboration of robust health outcome arguments for the clien’s products.
- Represent the P&MA function in Global Product Teams and/or clinical sub-teams
- Lead/chair the project/product-related international HE Committees, working groups or networks.
- Generate additional data alongside product development to translate clinical surrogates into quantified differential value and relevant market access endpoints.
- Deliver value dossiers as core element for Pricing & Reimbursement negotiations and revisions, which are tailored to and relevant for the regions/countries.
- Provide support to local health technology appraisals (HTAs)
- Identify new challenges/methodologies/trends in the pricing and health economics area and their impact on business/market access.
- Ensure the publication of study results and their presentation in internal/external working groups, networks, congresses
- Plan and manage the project related budgets
Requirements
Skills and Knowledge
- Advanced analytical skills in HE/HEOR/OR techniques (e.g. markov modeling techniques, meta-analyses, epidemiological analyses, psychometric analyses, reource utilization studies, cost of care studies, cross-sectional studies, patient chart reviews, patient reported outcomes studies etc)
- Excellent working knowledge of different healthcare systems
- Creative problem solving and risk assessment under uncertainty, on the basis of assumptions, hypothesis and scenarios, which have long-term consequences
- Cross-functional leadership skills
- Customer orientation and continuous quality management
- Strong conceptual, methodological and analytical skills
- Excellent project and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize workload in an emerging, dynamic and fast moving organisation
Education and Experience
- Scientific education (university degree) in medicines, pharmaceuticals, bio-chemistry, economics.
- Advanced degree preferred, PhD in Health Economics, Patient Reported Outcomes, MD or related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years experience in conducting Health Economics/Health Outcomes Research in academia, consulting or pharmaceutical industry.
