Senior Manager, Health Economics and Forecasting: Alberta Health and Wellness

Do you care about the rising cost of Alberta’s Health Care system? Are you an innovative person with a strategic mind-set and a background in health economics? If so, the Information and Analysis Branch in the Health System Performance and Information Management Division has an exciting opportunity for you!

The Information and Analysis Branch forecasts health system resource requirements and conducts health economic studies. The branch provides analytical tools to the department and generates intelligent economic information to enhance sustainability of the health sector.

In this role you will be providing leadership and strategic direction to a team of staff dedicated to health economics. You will be responsible for: analyzing and assisting in the development of health strategies, policies and programs to promote economic efficiency and effectiveness; enhancing the system’s ability to track, assess and forecast health fiscal resource requirements; and predicting health system fiscal sustainability by tracking trends in health expenditures over time. You will also be responsible for representing the department on inter-departmental and federal/provincial initiatives.

To be successful in this role, you need to be a strong leader with excellent communication skills. You should be able to summarize and present key technical information to a non-technical audience. Strategic thinking and innovation are essential for this role.

Qualifications:

A Graduate Degree in Economics (or a related field) is preferred supplemented with considerable experience in Health Economics. Experience leading major projects in Health Economics is required.
