The Healthcare Management Group is headed by Professor Carol Propper. It focuses on the theoretical and empirical analysis of healthcare systems. Its research uses analytical methods from health economics, technology and innovation management, the economics of happiness and wellbeing, management accounting, organisational behaviour and management information systems.

We seek a research associate to work with Professors Peter Smith and Carol Propper on the topic of quality and productivity in NHS trusts. The research will be primarily quantitative and involve statistical analysis of large scale data sets constructed from a variety of administrative sources.

The responsibilities of the post holder include preparation and maintenance of large scale data sets on NHS trusts and possibly General Practitioners, formulation of economic hypotheses drawing on the latest literature in the field, testing of hypotheses by means of modern econometric techniques, presentation of results to a variety of audiences including academics and policy makers and joint authorship on academic papers from the research.

We are seeking an outstanding individual with a PhD, experience in constructing and maintaining large data sets particularly NHS administrative data and a strong academic background in economics, statistics or a cognate discipline. We require previous post PhD work experience and proven ability to undertake research independently.

Successful candidates will play a significant role in the research group, be highly motivated, and show strong team-work and organisational skills.
