CBO is a small nonpartisan agency that provides Congress with the objective, timely analyses needed for economic and budgetary decisions. CBO seeks economists with excellent quantitative and writing skills for the following openings:
- Health Economist/PolicyAnalyst to conduct research and analysis on health topics.
- Empirical Macroeconomist with fields in public finance, banking, labor economics, housing, or econometrics.
- Financial Macroeconomist to study the impact of financial markets on real economic activity.
- Macroeconomics Writer with a major field in finance and a strong interest and ability in writing for a nontechnical audience.
- Tax/Public Finance Economist with a background in analyzing tax policies.
- Transportation Economist to conduct research and policy analysis related to public and private investment and use of highways, waterways, airways and the rails. Experience with analysis of federal programs and policies preferred.
- Energy Economist with experience in energy markets * especially petroleum.
- Labor/Health Economist and Modeler to help integrate disability, health and health expenditures, and Social Security benefit claiming into CBO’s large-scale microsimulation model.
- Labor Economists to analyze a broad range of policies affecting employment and income security.
