As a health economist, you will provide specialist economic analysis and advice on complex issues in priority areas, and contribute to strategic policy advice. The work is wide ranging, but will require you to both participate in developing and executing policy analysis and provide technical assistance to other advisors.
Using your professional health economic skills, you’ll play an important role in linking into a wide range of key work areas of the Ministry, including health policy issues relating to prioritisation, health system design, productivity, value for money, performance management and decision-making. You will be sharing your expertise, advising colleagues and Ministers, and building economic literacy across the health sector.
You are interested in health sector public policy, and ideally have relevant experience addressing strategic policy challenges in a political context. You are tertiary qualified, ideally to a post-graduate level either in health economics or in economics with a health economics component. You will demonstrate the ability to use, and be familiar with, quantitative data to inform policy development.
This is a key role in the Strategy Unit and wider ministry. We are prepared to consider candidates with the right skills at any level of seniority: Analyst, Senior Analyst or Principal Analyst. You will make a substantial contribution to the strategic direction of the Ministry, with a strong work ethic and an attitude that is flexible and adaptable to respond to changing priorities across a wide range of issues.
