Medical Economics Analyst

APS Healthcare has an exciting opportunity for a proven Medical Economics Analyst to join our growing Health Intelligence team! The Consultant will fulfill the information needs of internal and external customers by working in our data warehouse environment, extracting information and developing insights and direction for our existing clients.
Responsibilities:
- Performs analysis and reporting of health care data, including the writing and delivery of results, using SQL and SAS
- Provide outcomes reporting and analysis in support of APS’s health management and clinical products. This includes financial as well as clinical data analysis.
- Support research activities for Health Intelligence.
- Collaborate with the senior management to support findings and deliverables.
- Taking business and client data to recommend cost drivers, gaps in clinical treatment, etc.
- Perform statistical analysis and research literature searches
- Develop proof of concept analyses and write white papers
Qualifications:
- Clinical or graduate level college education in healthcare field, professional designation or its equivalent achieved through previous experience.
- A minimum of three years additional background in healthcare, risk management, insurance, statistics or related areas of expertise is required.
- Experience measuring health related outcomes is required.
- Experience working with databases, analyzing data using standard software packages and preparing analytical reports is required.
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of Office 97/2000 software, SAS and/or SQL coding is required.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and SAS programming logic and experience in data warehousing concepts a plus
- Experience with SQL Server 2000/2005 environments a plus.
- Possesses strong skills in analytics and statistics related to healthcare
- Knowledge of health care industry required.

Position Summary:
Qualifications: Knowledge of healthcare data. Ability to reason critically and explain findings. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL server as well as SAS.
Education: Bachelors degree in a quantitative area or healthcare field. Masters preferred
Experience: A minimum of three years experience in healthcare, risk management, insurance, statistics or related areas of expertise is required.
