Research Scientist: Center for Health Outcomes Research

Location: London, UK with possibilities for field placement in Europe or North American Locations

Position summary

Conduct health outcomes projects independently including instrument development and psychometric evaluation, health utilities and patient preference studies including conjoint analysis, consultation on HTAs and product strategy, and scientific dissemination ; oversee all aspects of project delivery including managing to timelines and budget. Supervise staff in some aspects of project completion. Provide scientific guidance on methods. Assist clients with establishing health outcomes strategy.

Job responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of project delivery including client communication, client management and scientific dissemination. Works on complex scientific delivery and logistics. Provides senior guidance to project team.
  • Oversees quantitative and qualitative analyses and leads those analyses, interprets results, oversees other project staff in completion of related deliverables.
  • Directs biostatisticians and programming staff in completion of analytical work.
  • Responsible for quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all project deliverables.
  • Responsible for financial performance of project portfolio.
  • Responsible for substantial business development; works toward established sales targets. Responsible for ongoing stream of funded project work for self and other staff.
  • Experience with designing and leading multiple types of health outcomes projects including instrument development, psychometric evaluation, health utility studies, patient preference studies.
  • Familiarity with HTAs and dossiers.

Computer programming or software skills required for position:

MS Word, PPT, Excel; familiarity with SAS or similar data analysis software desirable.

Specific skills or knowledge required for the position:

Deep understanding of health outcomes research); advanced level understanding of relevant methodology and statistics; extensive experience with research implementation; excellent communication skills including professional presentations; ability to critically review literature and contribute successfully to peer-reviewed literature in health outcomes research.

Education level

PhD with greater than one year of experience; or Masters with greater than seven years of experience.
