Senior Health Economics Project Leader (Modelling)
Location: Manchester, United Kingdom
My client is a large and rapidly growing independent and internationally recognised research organisation providing health care consulting and research expertise to optimise decision making for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device products across the development and marketing lifecycle.
As a result of their continued business growth, we are assisting them seeking a senior health economics (HE) professional, with the enthusiasm and vision required to play a key role as part of a dynamic internationally-focused team. They currently have a group of approximately 25 health economists, of which 10 are currently based in the UK. The purpose of this post is to continue their business expansion in the area of health economics within the UK offices. The candidate selected for this position will:
- Independently, develop HE proposals and successfully manage projects, based on a thorough evaluation of client specific requirements. Examples of such projects would include the development of cost effectiveness models, budget impact models, cost of illness studies and support of economic submission dossiers under the NICE STA/MTA, SMC, AWMSG or NCPE processes in the UK.
- Run high-quality projects, evaluating and demonstrating product value, to agreed timelines and budgets.
- Proactively developing strong and continuing relationships with clients, both in the UK and the wider European market, and develop a portfolio of active client-based work.
- Work in close collaboration with our evolving UK-based Market Access team, covering HTA submissions work, and the US-based HE team.
- Contribute to the professional development and mentorship of our junior research staff.
- Continue to build a scientific profile and key opinion leader stature, through publications and presentations.
Candidates should have excellent technical, interpersonal and English-language communication skills (both written and oral), preferably developed within a consultancy, pharmaceutical industry, or a relevant academic-based environment. In addition, candidates for this post will have:
- A relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g. Health Economics, Health Policy, Health Technology Assessment, Economics, Operational Research).
- At least 3-4 years prior experience in the design and management of health economic modelling projects (e.g. the application of Markov modeling, individual patient simulation, and budget impact modelling), including the development of Bayesian statistical models and the use of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code.
- Experience related to reimbursement and regulatory approval submissions (such as NICE, SMC, AWMSG or NCPE) would also be a distinct advantage.
- A clear and committed team-based attitude to project work and career development.
- A proven academic record through peer-reviewed publication and conference presentation.
