Childrens Hospital Boston is seeking applications for a Health Economist/Analyst. The individual will work collaboratively with investigators in the Clinical Research Program and on joint initiatives with the Physician’s Organization and Program for Patient Safety and Quality.

The successful applicant will be able to:

Design evaluations and conduct analyses that serve to assess the effectiveness of clinical interventions, evaluate health outcomes, and health care costs/cost effectiveness in order to enhance quality of care and improve health care value.

Be able to employ a variety of economic modeling techniques using appropriate software for statistical analysis of health care utilization data, insurance claims, EMR data, hospital discharge data, and clinical trial and observational data.

Participate on interdisciplinary research teams, designing evaluations, performing statistical analysis, developing medical decision models, conducting systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses, and writing project reports and manuscripts for publication.

Present results of sophisticated analyses to physicians and other medical providers to enhance the opportunity to improve clinical outcomes. Must present and explain complex information in ways that are meaningful to various stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Holds an advanced degree (PhD or related degree) in health economics and/or related field.
  • Specific training or experience in health related quality of life and health outcomes research, and clinical trial methodology and design.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in health economics and outcomes research.
  • Proficiency with advanced statistical and reporting applications, such as SAS and SPSS
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
