We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic visionary in the role of Health Economics Sr. Manager. This person will develop strategies and projects that leverage the value proposition created by the Global and Regional Health Economics, Medical and Business teams and oversee these projects throughout their lifecycles.

Working both independently and in collaboration with vendors and multiple departments within Amgen, the Sr. Manager will coordinate large-scale projects and associated budgets while developing computer health services models and programs to following health economics projects from inception to publication.

Our ideal candidate will hold a Masters, PharmD or PhD in Health Economics, Outcomes Research or Health Services Research, and experience conducting or overseeing computer programming (Visual Basic / MapInfo) and/or sophisticated modeling skills. Over 4 years of experience in health services or outcomes research and over 4 years experience managing large scale projects, budgets, and portfolios is preferred.

Two Full-Time Post-doctoral Research Positions in Healthcare Management: Ulm University in Germany

The newly established Collaboration in Healthcare Management at Ulm University in Germany invites applications for: Two Full-Time Post-doctoral Research Positions in Healthcare Management (or as part-time research/PhD positions for Master’s degree holders)*.

Ulm University, a leading medical and natural sciences university in Germany, is seeking two post-doctoral candidates for the newly established collaboration in Healthcare Management. This concentration brings together the medical and the business school at Ulm University to develop expertise in healthcare management. The candidates will work directly for the newly appointed professor of healthcare management and controlling at Ulm University and contribute to developing the teaching and research program. Candidates will participate in domestic and international collaborations with leading academic and medical institutions. Ideal candidates will possess academic or practical healthcare management experience and an understanding of the healthcare market, but need not come from a healthcare background. Candidates can expect the position to open doors for healthcare administration in Europe and the U.S.

Responsibilities:

One of the two candidates will have a Qualitative and the other a Quantitative focus. The Qualitative expert will take a lead on management and execution of research, recruit subjects, synthesize and present outcomes and establish networks. The Quantitative expert will design and conduct research (data collection, analysis and synthesis). Both candidates will assist in teaching. Work is conducted in English. Knowledge of German is not necessary, but is considered a plus.

Qualifications:

  1. Candidates will hold a PhD in the social sciences, healthcare management/administration, management, sociology, psychology, anthropology or similar field (Qualitative); economics, biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, psychology or similar field (Quantitative) -or- a Master’s degree in equivalent fields with a minimum of 2-3 years of work experience. Candidates will have the option to work part-time and complete a PhD degree*
  2. Strong project management, communication and interpersonal skills (Qualitative)
  3. Experience in statistical methods and test theory; proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS or SAS (Quantitative)

Compensation:

Salary will be in accordance with the German state-regulated public service salary scale (TVL-13) which includes comprehensive health and retirement benefits.

Start date:

Ideal start date is April 1 or later (flexible); two-year contract with the option of extension.

Candidates must be willing to relocate to or near Ulm. Ulm is located in southern Germany, close to the Alps, Munich and Stuttgart. Scope of the Job

The Biopharmaceutical Solutions Group has an exciting career opportunity for an Outcomes Researcher. This position is located at the corporate headquarters located in Houston, Texas. You will be responsible for study design, analysis, reporting, and presenting pharmacoeconomic and disease management information at the request of internal and external customers.

You will provide hematology/oncology clinical analysis expertise to pharmaceutical manufacturers, managed care, internal departments, physicians, and clinical leadership. Additional responsibilities include conducting pharmacoeconomic and outcomes research and developing models for cancer treatment alternatives. You will support and adhere to the company compliance program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

  • You will work closely with customers to identify and refine study concepts.
  • You will write proposals, protocols, and establish effective timelines for delivery of studies.
  • You will research and perform critical and statistical analysis of medical and scientific evidence as the basis for disease management guidelines, P&T Committee actions, and pharmacoeconomic comparisons of cancer therapies and regimens.
  • You will develop pharmacoeconomic models for cancer treatment alternatives for use in pay for performance, case rating, capitation forecasts, and cost of goods sold impact analyses.
  • You will conduct and publish the results of outcomes research.
  • You will design data layout for each study based on required data elements.
  • You will obtain raw data from available data sources, analyze the data to answer questions posed by internal and external customers, and audit the data contents for accuracy and validity.
  • You will format the output of data analysis for customer readiness, including reports, presentations, and manuscripts.

Candidate Requirements

  • Masters degree in Pharmacy, Public Health, Healthcare Economics or related clinical discipline, PharmD or PhD preferred.
  • Outcomes research and pharmacoeconomic training plus two to five years of experience in writing and completing studies.
  • Oncology and Pharmaceutical experience preferred. Advanced experience in data base, SAS, and Excel is helpful.
