This is an exciting opportunity for a health economist who wishes to contribute to the development of the Centre for Health Sciences at a strategic level. The Centre hosts the NIHR CRC registered Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit. The number of trials led by or linked to this unit is growing and we wish to appoint a senior health economist with responsibility for overseeing the health economic work within the Centre and particularly within the Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit. The purpose of this job is to develop health economics within the Centre by contributing to the design and supervising the analysis of health economics aspects of high quality pragmatic clinical trials including modelling as appropriate; undertaking high quality research in health economics relevant to clinical trials and/or primary care complementary to the overall research strategy of the Centre; and developing a team of junior health economists undertaking health economic analyses and modelling within the Centre. An interest in the development and evaluation of complex interventions would be particularly welcome. This post will be partly based in the Department of Economics to facilitate interaction and collaboration with relevant colleagues.

The appointee will have a PhD or equivalent in an appropriate discipline and experience in a wide range of health economic methods including modelling. The successful candidate will also have experience in applied health research including writing collaborative applications for research grants and a suitable track record of research evidenced by an appropriate publication record. The appointee will need to be able to lead and motivate a team, contribute to teaching and student supervision.

This post is full time and permanent. Starting salary will be in the range of £49,421 -£55,258 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, final salary pension scheme and interest free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
