HERG has a long-standing and internationally recognised programme of policy-relevant and methodological research in health economics. To expand and develop its programme of work, HERG is seeking to appoint high quality researchers who wish to further their careers in health economics in a vibrant and expanding department.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to HERG’s research on methods to quantify the impact of research. Through the work of Steve Hanney and Martin Buxton, HERG has established an international reputation for its work on ‘payback’ in health research. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to ongoing research as well as identify new funding opportunities in this field.

A competitive salary will be available for the right candidate.

Research Fellows/Research Assistants x3 (Permanent positions): Health Economics Research Group (HERG)

HERG has a long-standing and internationally recognised programme of policy-relevant and methodological research in health economics. To expand and develop its programme of work, HERG is seeking to appoint high quality researchers who wish to further their careers in health economics in a vibrant and expanding department.

Research Fellow/Assistant (Vacancy Ref HTA0018-1): research relating to the economics of public health, including contributing to ongoing evaluations as well as identifying opportunities for further applied and methodological research.

Research Fellow/Assistant (Vacancy Ref HTA0020-1): economic modelling of health care interventions to contribute to ongoing research as well as future projects. The role is predominantly applied although the successful candidate will have the opportunity to pursue methodological interests.

Research Fellow/Assistant (Vacancy Ref HTA0019-1): health economics research with a particular interest on the measurement and valuation of quality of life. The successful candidate will contribute to a programme of methodological research and to applied economic evaluations.

Candidates for the research fellow/assistant positions are expected to have a PhD in an appropriate discipline although candidates with a Masters degree and/or relevant experience will be considered. In all cases, candidates are expected to have experience of contributing to applied health economic evaluations, including assisting with applications for research funding and publication of research findings.

Salaries for all three posts are on the R1 Scale equivalent to a salary of £28,689 to £37,812 per annum inclusive of London Weighting (pro rata for part-time work). Salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
