Statistician/Economist: University College London and The Anna Freud Centre for CAMHS (EBPU)

Location: London
Application deadline: 9am Friday 12th February 2010
Salary: £32,000 - £41,000 depending on experience
Position: Permanent and full time position (part time and job share considered)

The CAMHS Evidence Based Practice Unit EBPU is a dynamic, expanding and friendly academic unit, currently consisting of 14 research staff. It is part of University College London (UCL) and the Anna Freud Centre (AFC), and is based at AFC. Established in January 2006, the unit aims to undertake, develop and disseminate the latest research relating to helping children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, and their families. This involves undertaking major international and national data collection both as part of research projects and practitioner learning collaborations.

The unit is seeking to expand its work in relation to analysing large multi-informant datasets and also to exploring further the cost-effectiveness of health, social care and education interventions for children and their families.

The ideal candidate will be willing and able to undertake both economic and statistical analyses to support the work of the unit. Candidates with expertise in one of these areas only will be considered provided they are willing and able to undertake training, and then subsequently provide support to the unit, in the other area as well. We would also be willing to consider applications for this post on a part-time basis, e.g., to provide either economic or statistical support to the unit, for up to 3 days a week.

The post holder will play a key role at the unit in working with colleagues to extend analyses of existing and future datasets and undertake economic analyses. The post holder will be encouraged to make links with colleagues across UCL and AFC with an interest in statistical modelling such as Professor Peter Fonagy and Dr Pasco Fearon and to interact with other health economists at UCL, including Professor Stephen Morris.

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, detail focused and thorough with a commitment to working with complex datasets. The ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, have clarity of communication and time management skills are all also vital.

Application packs can be downloaded from http://www.annafreudcentre.org Applications can be made by email only to EBPU.vacancy@annafreud.org - please include a subject heading of “EBPU statistician/economist”.
