This position is placed within a set of four new NHMRC and ARC funded studies of a range of child health promotion interventions in Melbourne, Victoria. These projects are funded for three years from 2010 and each includes an economic evaluation alongside a clinical study.
This full-time or part-time position is located within the Public Health Research Evaluation and Policy Cluster, one of several research clusters in the Faculty of Health, Medicine, Nursing and Behavioural Sciences. Staff within the Cluster report to the Dean of the Faculty through the Head of Deakin Health Economics (Professor Rob Carter). Staff in Deakin Health Economics are involved in a wide range of economic analyses, with an emphasis on priority-setting and public health economic evaluation.
The projects will be implemented through Deakin Health Economics under the supervision of Lisa Gold. The purpose of this position is to conduct economic evaluation research in multiple child health promotion research projects. The focus of the role is to work with the respective project teams to incorporate and conduct the economic evaluation in each study; this will involve working with public health teams at Deakin University as well as at the Royal Children’s Hospital and the University of Melbourne. The appointee will interact with other staff within Deakin Health Economics, the Cluster and the Faculty, their peers in other universities both nationally and internationally and the community and relevant professional and industry organisations.
