Position Summary:
This position has a 4-year renewable term and will contribute directly to the development and implementation of WBIHS’s Health Systems Strengthening Program. Youwill provide leadership for the design and implementation of structured learning programs, regional networks of partner institutions, and knowledge exchange among practitioners in client countries facing similar health system challenges when implementing policy.
The selected candidate will be responsible for contributing to the development of technical content on health systems reform and financing; and developing innovative strategies for the translation of knowledge into practice around health reform implementation challenges.
Qualifications:
- MA or PhD in Economics with specialty on health policy
- 8 years of experience in health and population policy analysis

- MD with MBA, or MPH or MA International Health or Ph.D. with specialty in health policy
- French is highly desirable.

Faculty Position, Implementation Research and Program Evaluation, Duke University
Location: Durham, NC
The Duke Global Health Institute (DGHI) seeks a faculty member to conduct research related to effective delivery of health programs in low and middle income countries, including program evaluation and measurement of health systems performance.
The incumbent would have the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of Institute members and other faculty at Duke who have expertise and training in multiple disciplines, as well as with experts from large non-governmental organizations based in Research Triangle Park and other nearby locations. The faculty member would be expected to teach a course in this area in the Institute’s MSc-Global Health program.
Candidates should have a doctoral degree in a relevant social sciences discipline or a medical degree with graduate training in the social sciences, experience related to implementation research or evaluation of health systems or programs in low or middle income countries, and a record of peer review scholarship. He/she should be comfortable working in a multidisciplinary environment. Overseas travel for fieldwork is envisaged. Candidates will be considered for appointment in the research or practice track at an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level.

Rank is open at the associate or full professor level. Funding is provided through the Phyllis A. Miller Endowment. Primary responsibilities: lead a team of faculty to develop and implement a research agenda that will garner national recognition through published scholarship in the area of health care issues, initiate and collaborate on external grant writing, develop and deliver a curriculum in health care studies at the graduate and undergraduate level, and interact closely with the regional health care and business communities. The College’s Center for Business and Economic Research offers an excellent forum to disseminate scholarly research and engage the broader community.
Minimum qualifications: earned doctorate; established record of published research and scholarship in health care studies; good classroom skills; evidence of interacting effectively with the business community.
Preferred qualifications: Ph.D. in economics; ability to create and lead a collaborative research and learning community; record of obtaining external grants; experience with curriculum development.
