The Department of Economics is creating a Ph.D. program with a primary emphasis on Health Economics. We anticipate our first entering class in fall 2010. The innovation is to create a program where the standard economic core in theory and econometrics is oriented toward training applied microeconomists. To join us in offering this program we seek two health economists to start August 1, 2010.
One of the positions in health economics is open rank. The ideal candidate will be an established senior health economist with a strong publication record, entrepreneurial outlook, and an eagerness to help build an innovative program to train health economists. We are not looking at new Ph.D.’s for this position, but individuals currently at the rank of advanced Assistant Professor with strong publication records are also encouraged to apply.
The other position is at the assistant professor rank. The ideal candidate will have strong training in theory and econometrics and have health economics as their primary field.
These health economists will participate in the teaching of one of the two-semester Ph.D. health field courses, directing the Health Economics workshop/seminar and supervising PhD theses. Salary will be competitive.
