Post-doctoral fellowships: University of Maryland School of Pharmacy

Location: Baltimore, Maryland, USA
Application deadline: December 31, 2009

Applications are being accepted for postdoctoral fellowships in the Pharmaceutical Health Services Research (PHSR) Department at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. We anticipate several opportunities in areas related to pharmacoeconomics, and economics of prescription drug coverage. At least one fellowship will have a special focus in the area of oncology. Fellowships are available starting July 1, 2010, although earlier start dates may be considered for some positions. The PHSR program provides multidisciplinary, advanced training to economists, health services researchers, and clinicians.

Training includes individualized coursework in pharmacoeconomics and health services research, and mentored research experiences under the direction of PHSR faculty. Strong quantitative skills and experience with large database analysis (SAS, Stata) are required. Fellows engage in ongoing research activities between the University of Maryland Schools of Pharmacy and Medicine and health institutions in Baltimore including the University of Maryland Medical Center and the Baltimore Veteran’s Administration (VA) hospital. At the completion of their fellowships, the successful candidates will be prepared for positions in academia, government, the managed care or pharmaceutical industries.

Fellows receive a stipend of $46,000 to $50,000 depending on research experience. The application deadline is December 7, 2009 for interviews at the AEA meetings. Otherwise applicants are encouraged to submit their materials by December 31. Applicants are requested to submit a letter of intent, curriculum vita, and three letters of recommendation.

The University of Maryland is an equal opportunity employer.
