Research Officer in Health Economics (full time): Department of Economics, University of Surrey

The full time position is available from 4th January 2010, for a fixed term of two years in the first instance. The person appointed will contribute to the portfolio of work undertaken by the Health Research Group in the Economics Department. Members of the Group are involved in a variety of externally funded health services research project, and the Research Officer will assist with data collection and analysis. Under the leadership of Dr Heather Gage, the Group provides health economic advice to health professionals in Kent, Surrey and Sussex for the NIHR Research Design Service - South East, and economic impact analysis for the South East Coast Health Policy Support Unit. The post holder will contribute to both these activities, and will also have the opportunity to collaborate in grant applications, and to develop their own research interests.

You will have ideally completed a Masters level degree or equivalent in health economics. You will need to have: a working knowledge of literature searching and reviewing, economic evaluation, modelling and decision analysis methodologies; strong written and oral communication skills; a commitment to team working; ability to work independently and willingness to take responsibility.
