The Division of Health and Social Care Research comprises 50 Principal Investigators working in the Evaluation, Health Services and Policy Research Group as part of an Academic Health Sciences Centre. The Research Group reflects the disciplinary richness of the College as a whole, in spanning an exceptional academic range (from clinical strengths in primary care, public health, nursing and midwifery, to disciplinary expertise in management, health policy, gerontology, social work and social studies of science).
We currently have an exciting opportunity and seek applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates who are keen to build on our research strengths and contribute to the development and future success of our Research group.
The post is linked to The National Institute for Health Research, Research Design Service London http://www.rdslondon.co.uk and will include working with academics throughout London applying for a range of grants by reviewing and contributing to the health economics components of their proposals. Through this work, the postholder will gain exposure to the clinical and health services research community in London and have the opportunity to potentially take part in some of the projects assessed through the Research Design Service. The post involves a teaching and training commitment, including contributing to the undergraduate work of the Division and to the Masters courses in Public Health and Primary Health Care.
The postholder will have a broad range of Health Economics expertise. A research interest in economic evaluation and the evaluation of health outcomes is preferable. In particular candidates should have an interest in the development of statistical and quantitative techniques in the area of economic evaluation. The postholder will benefit from having access to one of the largest hospitals in London as well as surrounding primary care trusts to contribute to health technology assessment and other health economics-related research in these clinical settings. There will be close collaboration with Health Economists at the London School of Economics.
Salary will be between £39,974 and £47,253 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance, depending on qualifications and experience.
