Senior Analyst: Cancer Care Ontario

The Pharmacoeconomics Research Unit at Cancer Care Ontario is seeking a senior analyst with training in health economics and outcomes research. The Pharmacoeconomics Research Unit works closely with decision makers at Cancer Care Ontario and the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. This is a 1-year renewable contract position based in downtown Toronto. The Unit offers excellent opportunities to apply health services research methods to inform decision making. The primary role of the Senior Analyst is to perform research activities related to decision analytic modeling to evaluate cost-effectiveness of cancer technologies. This may include developing, critiquing and explaining decision analytic models. A significant component of this work involves reviewing clinical literature, and the ideal candidate will have a strong interest in clinical epidemiology. This position requires excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, ability to critically appraise literature to identify best estimates to populate decision analytic models, and aptitude in decision modeling. The Senior Analyst will report to Dr. Jeffrey Hoch, Director of the Pharmacoeconomics Research Unit at Cancer Care Ontario.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop, critique and explain decision analytic models
- Conduct systematic review and meta-analysis
- Work collaboratively with team members
- Supervise or train other analysts in decision analytic modeling and clinical epidemiology
- Coordinate research activities in collaboration with investigators
- General project management including managing budget, timelines and deliverables
- Work collaboratively with external stakeholders and consultants
- Prepare grant proposals
- Assist investigators in the initiation of new research
Qualifications:
- Postgraduate degree in health services research or postgraduate degree with minimum of 3 years work experience in health economics and outcomes research
- Strong interest in clinical epidemiology and decision analytic modeling
- Good knowledge of economic evaluation
- Experience in conducting systematic review and meta-analysis preferred
- Advanced MS Excel user
- Competent in the use of computer software packages along with strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent writing skills
- Strong initiative with exceptional organizational skills
- Strong communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and balance multiple projects
