Johnson and Johnson Pharmaceutical Services, L.L.C. (J&JPS), is a legal corporate entity encompassing a unique group of business units that provide leadership of critical business processes across the Pharmaceutical business segment of Johnson & Johnson. The business units that make up J&JPS include the following: Global Strategic Marketing and Market Access (HE&P); Communications and Public Affairs U.S. Pharmaceutical Procurement Group (USPPG); Pharmaceuticals Group Business Development (PGBD); and LYNX.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of health economics programs for 1-2 pharmaceutical products in Phase II/III and commercialization within the Pain therapeutic area. For the assigned product(s), the Director Health Economics serves as the leading resource and is an active member of the clinical & commercial teams for product(s). May also interact with Phase IV Outcomes Research & Medical Affairs teams on outcomes studies. Key responsibilities include: Ensuring that clinical development programs fully capture the value of innovative products to payers, physicians and patients. This includes both strategic advice to teams on patient populations, trial design, selection of relevant endpoints as well as ensuring quality implementation of study protocols, case report forms, monitoring protocols, statistical analyses plans, etc. Design and management of health economics studies including: systematic literature reviews, retrospective database analyses, prospective physician or patient studies, & user-friendly cost-effectiveness and budget impact models. Development of value communication platform to key internal & external stakeholders using pricing & reimbursement dossiers, slide deck and training to operating company colleagues.
A minimum of a Ph.D, PharmD, MD, or M.Sc. in appropriate field (Epidemiology, Health Economics, Economics/Commerce, Public Admin/Health Services Research) with equivalent level of professional experience is required. A minimum of 5 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry is required. Experience with CNS, Pain or a biologic product is preferred. Good understanding and/or experience of the reimbursement environment for key international markets is preferred. Experience with building Global/ Regional Health Economics & Pricing dossiers and/or reimbursement submissions to managed care or a national authority is required. Strong numeracy and familiarity with standard statistical concepts is required. Superior written and oral communication skills tailoring value proposition appropriately to different stakeholders is required. Well-developed interpersonal skills are required. Person must be capable of working constructively and effectively in a cross-functional international team environment. Up to 15% domestic and international travel is required.
