Pricing and Market Access Manager

Location: UK

Purpose of the Role

The Pricing and Market Access Manger will drive the cross-functional elaboration of profit optimized, regional Pricing and Market Access (PandMA) strategies for projects/products across different target indications and for their whole life cycle.

This involves the integration of different markets, business models, global functions and stakeholders, whilst taking full responsibility for price strategy definition, pricing policy and transfer price setting ensuring state of the art processes are followed.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Integration of pricing and reimbursement considerations into Target Product Profiles, Target Product Claims, Marketing Strategies, Business Plans etc. (in collaboration with the TAs/BU-Oncology and the Global Product Teams)
  • Analysis of differential perceived value, price potential, franchise effects, national payers’ requirements and price-volume trade-offs in different markets and patient target segments, analysis of international price interrelationships
  • Elaboration of pricing hypotheses for objective internal decision making (forecasting/portfolio management/licensing), turnover and profitability models, profit-optimal prices per indication/country, global/regionalized PandMA strategies, profitability-enhancing launch sequences
  • Presentation to top management of PandMA strategies for their sign off and approval
  • Provide support to the regions/countries in pricing and reimbursement negotiations
  • Supervise and document the world-wide implementation of PandMA strategies
  • Global/regional price corridor management, ensuring optimized corporate profitability of brands during the whole lifecycle, maintenance of profit optimized price corridors
  • Certification/attestation of price and reimbursement levels to National Authorities in the context of price setting, price revisions and international reference pricing
  • Chairing of related internal Pricing Committees or working groups/task forces

Education and Languages

  • Master degree in Health Economics, Economics or Business Administration
  • Fluent in English, ideally also knowledge in other languages

Professional Skills and Experiences

  • Demonstrated ability to understand medical scientific data/contexts (ideally a university degree in medicines, pharmaceuticals, bio-chemistry, molecular-biology or natural sciences, or at least two years experience in the pharmaceutical industry/consulting in related positions across different disease areas)
  • Comprehensive mastery of pricing techniques and profitability calculation methodologies. Basic knowledge in Health Economics
  • Demonstrated self-reliant ability to apply such knowledge in a creative and commercial manner to support the objectives of the company. In this context pragmatic experience in competitive market analysis, segmentation, targeting, positioning, cost analysis, profitability analysis. In-depth knowledge of differences of healthcare systems.
  • Experience in International Pharma Pricing and/or Pharmacoeconomics, theoretical and practical knowledge in other professional disciplines
  • Ideally some consultancy experience
  • Comprehensive skills in strategic and operational pricing and the related methodologies
  • Substantiated understanding of healthcare environment, market and business context; demonstrated skills in marketing analyses (segmentation, targeting, positioning, competitive analyses, etc)
