Post-Doctoral Fellowship Position: University of Toronto

A post-doctoral fellowship (PDF) position is available at the Toronto Health Economics Technology Assessment Collaborative (THETA), and the Toronto General Research Institute, both affiliated with the University of Toronto and the University Health Network, in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The PDF will be part of an established research team that includes health services researchers, decision analysts, physicians, health economists, and biostatisticians.

This PDF position involves estimating the costs of cancer in two Canadian provinces, Ontario and British Columbia, using linked health care administrative databases. The PDF will work closely with analysts at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES), the Principal Investigator, and other members of the study team, to identify and cost health care resources associated with all types of cancer. This study will be carried out in conjunction with the new National Centre for Health Economics, Services, Policy, and Ethics in Cancer (HESPE), co-located at the British Columbia Cancer Agency and Cancer Care Ontario (CCO).

The position will be of particular interest to individuals with a PhD in health economics, health services research, or epidemiology with a strong interest and experience in the use of large administrative healthcare databases for health economics research. Interest and experience in costing methods, health services research involving the use of administrative data, statistical methodology, and cancer care are highly desirable. The PDF will be expected to play a leading role in research design, analysis, and interpretation, presentation and dissemination of the results, including peer-reviewed publications and additional peer reviewed grants.

The PDF position is for two to four years and carries a competitive stipend. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
