Health Governance Specialist
Location: Bethesda MD, Washington, DC
RTI is an independent organization dedicated to conducting innovative, multidisciplinary research that improves the human condition. With a worldwide staff of more than 4,000 people, RTI offers innovative research and development and a full spectrum of multidisciplinary services. RTI’s Center for International Health (CIH), part of the International Development Group (IDG), is seeking a Health Governance Specialist to perform the following:
- Working with Health Systems (HS) 20/20 and other RTI staff, provide technical assistance and help manage the health governance strategic area and activity portfolio on HS 20/20. This would mean: incorporating health governance into Human Development (HD) 20/20’s activity portfolio, with a strong focus on PEPFAR-funded activities; raising awareness of health governance with USAID staff and missions; writing concept papers and other proposals for mission support; participating in strategic planning for health governance; developing scopes of work and budgets for health governance activities; identifying and providing technical assistance; providing management oversight and monitoring to health governance activities funded by core and mission funds to assure quality; and contributing to papers and reports.
- Keep abreast of cutting edge of governance issues, approaches, and lessons learned in RTI and elsewhere, particularly as they relate to health systems.
- Participate in selected new business development activities to expand CIH’s portfolio of health governance related activities and projects.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree or higher in public health, economics, public policy, management or a related field.
- 3-5 years or more of applied health governance and/or related experience in developing country settings; 1 or more years in residence in developing countries preferred.
- Demonstrated technical leadership skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work with international teams and multiple stakeholders.
- Fluency in a foreign language preferred.
Position is located in Washington, DC (based in offices of HS 20/20 prime contractor in Bethesda MD).
