Social Scientist, Health Economist or Health Policy Researcher: Serves as a scientific officer in the Prevention Development and Evaluation Branch (PDEB), Division of Violence Prevention (DVP), National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC), providing expert consultation on public policy research related to the prevention of child maltreatment, sexual violence, intimate partner violence, youth violence, or suicide prevention. Develops grants, contracts or cooperative agreements with institutions of higher education, community-based organizations and other governmental and non-governmental health agencies. Independently designs and conducts research to examine the cost and effectiveness of policies designed to prevent violence. PhD or other terminal degree in criminology, economics, political science, public policy, sociology or related field required. Competitive salary and benefits.
