Clinical Assistant Professor (Economist)

The University of Florida College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes & Policy, is seeking a time limited, non-tenure-track, Clinical Assistant Professor. This is a full-time, 12-month, time-limited appointment, renewed annually.
The successful candidate will teach health economics and pharmacoeconomics to graduate students enrolled in the department’s online Master’s program and to residential professional pharmacy students. Teaching responsibilities will also include didactic classroom instruction at all four campuses (primarily in Gainesville, with periodic trips to Jacksonville, Orlando and St. Petersburg). The Department has a long history of collaborative research, and some contribution to the scholarly mission of the Department will be expected. Service responsibilities will include committee memberships and departmental organization.
The position is available to beginning September 1, 2009.

Minimum Requirements: Earned doctorate in economics or a related field with relevant postdoctoral training or experience.
Preferred Qualifications: A background in pharmacy and familiarity with educational technologies such as Blackboard and Elluminate.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) was formed on 1 April 2005, when the National Institute for Clinical Excellence took on the functions of the Health Development Agency to create a single excellence-in-practice organisation responsible for providing national guidance on the promotion of good health and the prevention and treatment of ill health.
The Centre for Health Technology Evaluation develops guidance on the use of new and existing medicines, treatments and procedures within the NHS.
The Technical Adviser will be responsible for ensuring the technical quality of the outputs of the Appraisals Team and for the line management of a group of health technology analysts. This involves providing leadership on technical issues, reviewing and quality assuring the work of the team of technical analysts, contributing to the training and development of new and existing members of staff, and leading the development of high-quality methodological practice across the Appraisals Programme. These roles are in addition to acting as Technical Lead on some appraisals, and include participating in appeal hearings and providing scientific advice to technology developers.
