Senior Health Outcomes Manager/International Project Leader: NHS Innovations London Ltd (NHSIL)

NHS Innovations London Ltd (NHSIL) services over 100 hospitals across London, encompassing University Hospitals, Mental Health, Primary Care Trusts (PCTs), Specialist Hospitals and District Hospitals. In total NHSIL services over 170,000 NHS employees across London. The NHSIL Health Outcomes Unit provides Health Economic evaluation of new technologies and products at various stages of a product’s life-cycle. It aims to leverage its expertise to help London NHS Trusts to maximise their efficiency, identify and commercialise inventions with genuine market potential and facilitate partnership with industry.

NHSIL also offers Health Outcomes research to industry, providing a bridge between the NHS and the commercial world. In this context it can identify sources within the NHS that would support the creation of compelling health economic cases, to secure and maximise reimbursement, market uptake and market access.

Main purpose of this post:

To build strong working relations in the NHS and commercial arena, whilst conducting health economic and outcomes projects for NHS Trusts and healthcare industry.

Principal duties:

  • Design and conduct outcomes projects for NHS Trusts or healthcare industry including economic models, epidemiological and prospective health economic studies.
  • Develop and validate health outcomes endpoints for integration in pivotal clinical studies or observational studies.
  • Design and develop patient related outcomes studies (stand alone or as part of clinical research).
  • Lead and partner with Health Outcomes departments of healthcare industry, Key Opinion Leaders ( Medical and HO), external stakeholders and potential speakers
  • Conduct the HO projects in a goal-driven customer oriented manner with emphasis on quality deliverables, timelines and compliance to budget
  • Communicate study results in scientific conferences and ensure publication mainly in peer-reviewed journals.

Job profile:

In order to perform this role the post holder will need:

Training

Desirable owner of a first degree with ideally an MSc or PhD in health economics, epidemiology or public health. Holder of a MD would be an advantage Candidate must be fluent in English, a second or third European language would be advantageous (Spanish, German, French)

Knowledge and understanding

  • A solid scientific and business background
  • Education to degree level or equivalent in Economic Management
  • Understanding the relationship between development strategies and market access.
  • Computer literate - Windows XP

  • Prioritise Workload
  • Appropriate Interpretation of qualitative and quantative statistics
  • Negotiating tenders

  • Liaison with clinicians, managers and staff at all levels
  • Liaison with external organisations
