Right now we’re looking for a Project Manager of Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) to join them in Health Economics and Reimbursement. A key member of the R&D Portfolio Value Development team, you will participate in core value EBM dossier development for a therapeutic field in cooperation with PVD colleagues, Key countries and Regions. A newly created role, it will give you every opportunity to utilise your skills, develop as an EBM expert and help define and shape the future of the group.
Carrying out EBM analysis based on competitor, reimbursement and regulatory intelligence to support PVD therapeutic department management in line with the Global reimbursement strategy, you will also extract data from relevant databases as Medline and DataStar. You will then compile detailed scientific reports before communicating your findings to the cross functional teams. Ensuring global development of EBM strategies for new products, helping to co-ordinate EBM activities, building effective interfaces with regional and key country EBM experts and managing the compilation of core EBM dossiers - all and more are part and parcel of this interesting and varied role.
With a PharmD, M.D, PhD or Masters in a health sciences related field and experience of Cochrane Collaboration methodology or related analyses/databases, you are used to conducting qualitative and meta-analysis. What’s more, you’re well-versed in systematic literature reviews, extraction of data from studies and writing management reports. Known for your drive, energy and initiative and commitment to constantly update and develop your skills and knowledge, you have a cross-functional approach, share information freely and proactively with colleagues and. above all, have the technical skills it takes to deliver.

The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington is accepting applications for the Post-Graduate Fellowship program Winter cohort 2010.
IHME aspires to make available to the world high-quality information on population health, its determinants, and the performance of health systems. We seek to achieve this directly, by catalyzing the work of others and by training researchers as well as policy makers. Our goal is to improve the health of the world’s populations by providing the best information on population health.
The IHME Post-Graduate Fellowship Program provides a unique opportunity for individuals with graduate-level training and a strong quantitative background to conduct in-depth, methodological research on a variety of global health topics with the mentorship of faculty and senior researchers. Through research, training workshops and mentorship, the program is intended to enhance the analytical skills of future academics and professional leaders in the field of global health measurement and evaluation.
Post-Graduate Fellows will contribute directly to the overall research agenda of IHME and will be involved in all aspects of projects including analyzing and synthesizing existing data, catalyzing new data collection, building statistical models and validating new analytical methods, interpreting findings, and reporting and disseminating results. Post-Graduate Fellows will be involved in research in one of six key areas of work: health outcomes, health services, resource inputs, evaluations, decision analytics, and tools and instruments.
Post-Graduate Fellowships are appointed at IHME for one year with the possibility of renewal for a second year upon mutual agreement. The salary is $50,000 during the first year and subject to a merit increase during the second year. As University of Washington employees fellows are eligible for an insurance benefits package that includes a choice among several medical and dental insurance plans,life insurance, and long-term disability. Please note that there is no retirement package included with this appointment.
Qualifications
In order to be considered for a Post-Graduate Fellowship, candidates must have the following:
- MD or PhD in the fields of quantitative methodology, statistics, health economics, health policy, demography, epidemiology, biostatistics, health services or other related field. Candidates with an MSc/MPH degree and at least three years of related research experience will also be considered.
- Strong quantitative background.
- Research experience, especially with data analysis and statistical methods.
- Proficiency in the English language.

Applications must be received by August 1. Interviews with selected applicants will occur in September. Candidates will be notified in October and will begin the fellowship on February 1.

The Post-Graduate Fellowship is a highly intellectual, structured, and focused didactic program where talented researchers can leverage their expertise to help advance the field of health metrics. Strong candidates for this program have graduate-level training in quantitative methodology from one of the following areas: health policy, economics, mathematics, statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, health services, demography, engineering, physics, medical sciences, or other related fields.
The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation is a new organization at the University of Washington. Its mission is to monitor global health conditions and health systems, as well as to evaluate interventions, initiatives, and reforms. It uses cutting-edge techniques to tackle some of the most difficult and most critical questions in global health and find answers that will become the foundation for better policies and, ultimately, better health.
The purpose of the Fellowship is to:
- Enhance the fellows’ skills in conducting in-depth, methodological research on a variety of global health topics with mentoring from faculty and researchers who are the leading minds in their fields.
- Advance the fellows’ knowledge of quantitative analytical methodologies and their application to global health.
- Develop the fellows’ understanding of the current global health landscape and its challenges.

IHME fellows work in one or two of the six key areas:
- Generate systematic estimates of health outcomes - including mortality, causes of death and the overall burden of disease.

- Track, measure, and analyze funding for health and how it is affecting country health spending
- Estimate the costs and effectiveness of health service delivery platforms and interventions

Fellows receive training through on-the-job research, methods workshops, access to University of Washington courses, and on-site lectures and seminars. My client is a global Pharmaceutical company which is dedicated to the discovery and development of new medicinal products in numerous therapeutic areas, as part of their continued development they now wish to appoint a Health Economist. Key Responsibilities
- Develop health economic models, user interfaces and support materials for use in submissions to market access organisations and by sales teams with cost-sensitive NHS customers
- Obtain source data inputs to health economics analyses
- Utilise data from a range of sources (e.g. clinical audit, databases) to generate value messages
- Produce specific quality of life information on existing and development products
Experience / Qualifications
- Relevant degree in Health / Economics
- Experience of applied health economics in either the pharmaceutical industry, or a contract organisation
- Demonstrable record of collaborative working
- Understanding of the NHS, and customer needs for value demonstration

An exceptional opportunity has arisen to lead the Market Access function of a mid-sized growing pharmaceutical company with a strong pipeline. In addition to driving forward the Market Access of products, you will also be responsible for building the UK division and ensuring HTA submissions are fully prepared and relevant.
The ideal candidate will fulfil a pivotal role in leading this critical function at the forefront of driving business strategy and implementation. This role requires a visionary individual who can translate strategies into tactics and drive execution with the kind of adaptability to influence internal and external stakeholders and KOLs in the UK and have the ability to grow the function.
Responsibilities:
- Create and communicate strategy for market access, aligned with global and regional vision
- Lead and manage a team of Market Access functional specialists to ensure flawless implementation of all activities
- Analyse trends and changes that influence access and implications for the business
- Ensure HTA submissions are completed on-time for UK approval
- Ensure creation of integrated Market Access plans for all key brands across a wide degree of therapy areas
- Represent the national team within a Global and European settings
Candidate Profile:
- Experience within a similar function
- Health Economics Degree or significant practical experience and professional reputation within the field
- Have extensive experience of HTA submissions, Health Economics and/or Outcomes Research experience
- Have experience in Pharmaceutical and/or Medical Device cost-benefit analysis
- Strong communication skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Can build a high-performance and diverse team of professionals
- Prepared to relocate or be close to Amsterdam, Utrecht or Rotterdam
The role would be located in SouthEast England (London) and a relocation package would be available to fulfil the role.

Overview of the Role
The University of Pennsylvania Health
System seeks a Special Assistant, Health Policy Support reporting
directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The position requires strong
financial analysis skills and experience in health care policy issues.
The individual must bring exceptional intelligence and successful
experience navigating in complex organizational settings.
The position will require a capable candidate who is comfortable working with highly successful professionals in health care, business and government. In this capacity, the successful candidate will leverage his/her in-depth knowledge of health care policy in the preparation of presentations, briefing documents and publications on behalf of the chief executive officer.
Professional Qualifications and Experience
- At least two years of progressive experience in health care policy—with well developed knowledge of federal and state supported programs;
- Knowledge of health care payment and funding models for academic medical centers;
- Experience in preparation of national, state and local health policy briefing documents—including Medicare and Medicaid;
- Experience in the preparation of update documents for senior leadership and the board; and
- Possess an advanced degree or a BA with significant related experience. Degree preferably in health administration, public policy, business, law, public health or medicine.
Personal Qualities and Skills
- Strong technical and quantitative skills in financial analysis;
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex information in clear and concise terms;
- Demonstrated proficiency in written presentations and publications;
