An experienced researcher with excellent statistical skills is required to work on a MRC funded, methodological project in the area of statistical methods and health economic evaluation. The post provides an excellent opportunity to work on an innovative, topical project at a London-based university with a large programme of work in Medical Statistics and Health Economics. LSHTM performed outstandingly in the recent Research Assessment Exercise with between 65% and 80% of its research assessed as world leading or internationally excellent.

The research project aims to improve statistical methods for economic evaluations that use data from cluster randomised trials (CRT). The post holder will compare alternative statistical methods by re-analysing CRTs and conducting simulations. The post holder will lead aspects of the project dissemination which includes communicating the methods developed to other researchers and policy-makers. The post will offer opportunities for contributing to other methodological projects and to research degree supervision.

The post will be based in the Health Services Research Unit at LSHTM, but involves close collaborations with statistical colleagues in the Medical Statistics Unit at LSHTM (Dr. James Carpenter) and the MRC biostatistics Unit (Professor Simon Thompson).

Applicants would ideally have a PhD in Applied Statistics (e.g. Medical Statistics) or Health Economics. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in improving statistical methods for health economic evaluation.

This post is for 3 years in the first instance. The salary will be on the Academic Pathway in the range #41,106 to #45,326 (Lecturer, Grade 7) per annum inclusive, depending on qualifications and experience.
