Health Services Researcher / Statistician: ABIM, Psychometrics Department
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
We have an immediate opening in our Psychometrics Department for a Health Services Researcher/Statistician. The Health Services Researcher/Statistician is a full-time salaried staff member and will initiate research publishable in top health services and medical journals related to the mission of the organization. In particular, this researcher will provide analytical support for a broad range of advanced statistical methods to answer research questions related to the analysis of health data and physician performance assessment. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Psychometrics and Research Analysis.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Initiate cutting edge research projects.
- Author and publish manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.
- Present scholarly research at professional meetings.
- Obtain external funding to support research related to the mission of the organization.
- Coordinate external and internal research projects.
- Serve as expert resource on methodological issues related to the analysis of health data.
- Work with large health-related databases (chart audits, physician and patient surveys and claims data etc.)
- Conduct data analysis requiring complex analytic design and/or programming
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines.
- Strong background in research design, methodologies and analytical/statistical procedures.
- Experience with multivariate regression techniques, hierarchical linear and nonlinear modeling.
- High level of proficiency with statistical software package (SAS).
- Experience with large databases.
- Experience with health services and outcomes research projects.
- Works well in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
This position requires a Doctoral degree in Statistics, Economics, Health Services Research, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or related field. Both newly minted PhDs as well as researchers that are more senior will be considered for this position.
