Head of Outcomes / Epidemiology Research (UK)
Location: UK
Our client is a leading Pharmaceutical research organization focusing on Health policy and Outcomes. We are seeking a proactive experienced Manager with a strong track record within Health Economics and Outcomes Research to lead a strong team of researchers and consultants and to develop the business into a wider market.
Role Summary
- To manage and to provide senior business leadership and to drive profitable growth
- Actively lead the business day-to-day. Develop ideas related to future operations to help determine the direction and profitability.
- Develop a strategic vision and sales story and communicate this internally and externally. Develop new opportunities, ventures and ideas to propose to both existing and new clients.
- Prepare annual business and resource plans, including forecasts and marketing plans. Ensure the Board agreed fee target and profit budget is achieved.
- Through effective leadership and line management, ensure high quality selection, training, development and performance management of all direct line reports.
- Lead the Management Team and ensure this team operates effectively as an operational management decision-making body.
- Ensure the ongoing development of capabilities in addition to Product value demonstration / Health Outcomes Research / Healthcare Policy / Evidence-based research, competitiveness, effectiveness and efficiency – to achieve all key business KPIs.
- Generate new clients and become an expert in the needs of those clients. Expand the opportunities available and ensure appropriate and balanced portfolio management of clients and products. Secure profitable business and long-term relationships.
- Manage client purchasing and procurement relationships. Lead negotiation with these groups as appropriate.
- Contribute to projects and achieve productivity target.
Candidate requirements
- Relevant leadership experience in a HTA group, in academia, NHS, other healthcare service provider or industry
- Proven experience of developing and delivering against business strategy
- Has an excellent understanding of market and industry awareness from both an international and domestic perspective
- Demonstrates strong capability for business development activity to expand the existing customer base
Can demonstrate experience of:
- Gaining internal / external buy-in when implementing projects
- Achieving & surpassing financial objectives
- Reviewing the work of others and providing constructive feedback
- Effective project management
- Experienced people manager
- Pharmaceutical industry experience
Has a thorough understanding of:
- product value demonstration, health outcomes research, healthcare policy and evidence-based research, health economics.
- Strong business development skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and first class communication skills
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills and commands respect of others
- Ability to inspire, capture the imagination and work with creative flair
- An exemplary project manager, attentive to detail with strong organisational skills
- Outstanding presentation skills
- Good presentation skills and ability to facilitate meetings
