The Micro Insurance Academy is a Delhi-based Charitable Trust (NGO) dedicated to
training, research, and advisory services for microinsurance units serving the poor. At
present, we are the first and only institution dedicated to training community-based
micro health insurance schemes in insurance domain knowledge.

About the Job:
The MIA and its partners are about to embark on an EU-funded, multi-year, action-
research project on community based health insurance (CBHI) in India.
This project will aim to close the knowledge gap on aspects important for the successful implementation of CBHI. It will do so through a set of controlled field experiments through which CBHI is implemented in villages of two states of India.
Rigorous longitudinal research will document the learning in order to make it available for replication elsewhere. We will apply quantitative research along with in depth qualitative research and spatial data.
Job Description:
The incumbent(s) will report to the Director (Research and Training), and is expected to
handle the following tasks:
• Conduct quantitative, qualitative and spatial analysis of baseline data and
subsequent research waves.
• Help conceptualizing and developing tools and methodologies to measure the
impact of microinsurance;
• Assist in the preparation of reports and publications on the impact of
microinsurance;
• Conduct field research if and when needed;
• Any other related task as instructed by the supervisor.
Qualifications required:
• A commitment to MIA’s mission and values;
• A Master’s degree (MPhil preferred) in a relevant field, preferably Economics,
Statistics, Sociology or related disciplines, which offers a strong methodological
background;
• 3-5 years experience in research with exposure to a variety of research
methodologies;
• Experience in conducting impact assessments;
• Detailed understanding of methodologies;
• Excellent writing and communication skills in English; Hindi a plus
• Computer skills; please note all statistical packages familiar with
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team- and deliver results within a
strict timeline.
• Demonstrated high professional and ethical standards.
