Assistant or Associate Professor (Health Economist): The University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine, Division of Respiratory Medicine and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Location: British Columbia, Canada
Closing date: 30 April 2009.

The University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Respiratory Medicine and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences are seeking to hire an academic health economist to further develop a rapidly expanding respiratory health economics program. The successful candidate would hold a joint appointment with the Faculties of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, grant tenure track. This position in the Respiratory Evaluation Sciences Program (RESP) is geographically based at the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute. The successful candidate would join a large group of health economists distributed across the major academic health science centres affiliated to UBC.

The successful candidate would have PhD level training in health economics and a proven track record in obtaining peer reviewed funding as well as publications in the area of health economics. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and the position includes a generous benefits package.

Additional funding is also available for a Masters-level health economist position and administrative support.

UBC hires on the basis of merit and is committed to employment equity. We encourage all qualified persons to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents of Canada will be given priority.

Closing date for applications is April 30, 2009.

Applications, including curriculum vitae, teaching dossier, a letter describing research interests and plans, and the names and complete addresses of four referees should be sent to:

Dr. Mark FitzGerald, Director, Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Evaluation (markf@interchange.ubc.ca) or Dr. Carlo Marra, Centre for Health Evaluation and Outcome Sciences (cmarra@interchange.ubc.ca).
