Job Summary: We are currently seeking a Health Outcomes Liaison, Field Medical Affairs. In this position, you will provide a credible scientific bridge between DSI and health care system (HCS) decision makers in Managed Care, Medicare and institutional settings by providing scientific, medical, and pharmacoeconomic support for DSI initiatives in selected therapeutic areas. In addition, you will serve as the field-based scientific interface between the DSI Health Outcomes Research function and HCS’s by conducting value-based pharmacoeconomic and health outcomes research in collaboration with the decision makers within these systems. The Health Outcomes Liaison will educate healthcare providers, DSI colleagues and decision makers in HCS regarding therapeutic areas and related products developed and commercialized by DSI.

Responsibilities: As Health Outcomes Liaison, you will have responsibility for establishing and maintaining scientific/professional relationships with HCS decision makers, external thought leaders and payer influencers by answering unsolicited requests for information, providing disease state and pharmacoeconomic information; and ensuring a clear understanding of the balanced scientific, clinical, and pharmacoeconomic data related to our products. You are also responsible for providing strategic input into the development and implementation of Disease Management education programs and tools for demonstrating leadership in the area of Evidence Based Medicine (EBM).

You will deliver scientific and pharmacoeconomic data for DSI products to health care system decision makers responsible for managing medical care in various settings including managed care organizations, pharmacy benefit management companies, payer groups, or at company-sponsored advisory board meetings. You will identify and communicate scientific, clinical, health outcomes and pharmacoeconomic research objectives identified by health care decision makers to appropriate DSI colleagues; collaborate with the Medical Liaisons to meet the mutual scientific, clinical, therapeutic and DSI product informational needs of the health care decision makers and HCP. You will identify and communicate research objectives identified by health care decision makers to appropriate DSI colleagues. You will provide strategic input into the development and implementation of Disease Management education programs and tools; and demonstrate leadership in the area of Evidence Based Medicine (EBM), which includes leading the ongoing debate from a DSI point of view with key internal and external stakeholders and ensure this point of view is presented in credible publications. You will participate on tasks forces for clinical and/or quality improvement, coordinate scientific presentations and communications within a geographical area, attend scientific meetings and professional conferences for the purpose of continuing education, present health outcomes research and pharmacoeconomic data when appropriate. You will assist in the training of Medical Liaisons, Account Managers, and other DSI colleagues as needed.

Education/Experience Requirements: Qualified candidates will have a PharmD, M.D., or Ph.D in a health sciences related field. In addition, a Master’s degree in pharmacoepidemiology, epidemiology, or health economics is preferred.

You will have 3 years experience including medical & scientific affairs, clinical practice, research, academic or U.S. managed markets is required with a minimum of 2 years in the pharmaceutical industry. Previous experience in cardiology and/or metabolic disorders, pharmacoeconomics, health outcomes research, disease management principles and tools, and EBM is highly desirable. Understanding of legal and regulatory guidelines of the pharmaceutical industry is preferred. You will have a proven track record of teamwork, leadership, innovation and project management with effective written and verbal skills; effective presentation skills; demonstrated understanding of pharmacoeconomic and health outcomes research principles, disease management principles and tools and EBM. 60% travel is required.
