Assistant Professor (Health Policy and Economics Research) (Non-Clinical) : School of Public Health and Department of Community and Family Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

The School of Public Health and the Department of Community and Family Medicine are seeking candidates for the post of Assistant Professor in Health Policy and Economics (Non-Clinical), to pursue research on application of economics to health care policy, design and evaluation of national health systems, and health sector reforms, with a focus on China and the larger Asia region. The School and the Department are committed to assisting in the development of health systems, education and research in the region. Applicants should have (i) a doctoral degree in economics, public health or health policy, specializing in one or more of the following: health economics, applied econometrics, industrial organization, programme evaluation; (ii) strong commitment to both teaching and research in public health; (iii) a good track record of research demonstrating research capacity and potential; (iv) proficiency in English and Chinese; (v) good teammateship; and preferably (vi) prior research experience in low- or middle-income countries, especially pertaining to evaluation of health systems.
The appointee will report directly to Professor Winnie Yip and will (a) participate in existing research and develop independent research activities; (b) undertake teaching duties; and (c) assist in course development and coordination for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The appointee will be appointed jointly in the School of Public Health and the Department of Community and Family Medicine. Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to two years initially commencing as soon as possible, leading to longer-term appointment or substantiation later subject to mutual agreement. A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Health Economics Consultant to join our expanding HEOR team. The position is based in Sydney, Australia. As an integral part of the team, you will work on a large variety of projects for Australian and international clients in both the public and private sectors.
Working within project teams, and reporting to the Health Economics Manager, your key responsibilities would include:

You will be an effective team member, working closely with other economists and health outcomes analysts in the HEOR team, and a variety of clients and external consultants (eg. clinical experts). Your previous work experience will enable you to manage your own projects when required. You are able to contribute to the development of health economic and wider project strategy, and can understand and interpret each project’s key findings.
The ideal candidate will possess tertiary qualifications in an economics related discipline, preferably with Honours or a postgraduate degree, and a minimum of three years professional health economics experience in the health care industry, consulting, academic research, or similar environment. Candidates with a life sciences degree and a high level of health economics experience are also encouraged to apply.
For all candidates, working knowledge of health care reimbursement processes would be advantageous, as would knowledge of decision modelling software packages (eg. TreeAge).

Your qualifications

- financial modeling,
- epidemiology
- Experience in pricing and reimbursement management of hospital only drugs, their regulations and funding (ex: DRGs) preferred
- Strong analytical skills

The Institute for Global Health at the University of California, San Francisco invites applications for the position of Health Professions Education Coordinator (Tanzania). Appointment will be in the Academic Coordinator series, the level of which will be determined by experience and training.
Duties: The successful candidate will coordinate the UCSF efforts to collaborate with the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) to address the healthcare workforce crisis in Tanzania. She or he will lead a team in developing and implementing the curricular and faculty development components of the program. Specific responsibilities include contributing to: the faculty needs assessment; introducing new tools and technologies for teaching, assessment and evaluation; establishing the MUHAS Centre for Health Professions Education; developing and delivering a faculty training module on education at MUHAS; and implementing the Tracer Study and continuing education needs survey.
Qualifications: Clinical qualification in a health profession; Advanced degree relevant to educational programs in global health setting; Demonstrated experience in education and in the development and leadership of academic programs; Demonstrated experience working in cross-cultural settings, preferably East Africa; Excellent writing, public speaking and presentation skills; Strong project and team management skills; Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with people and institutions; Sensitivity to diplomatic, political and cultural norms of multiple cultures; Familiarity with current global health and development issues. Must be available to travel to Tanzania for up to four months a year.
