Bioethics Position (Tenure Track) at University of Wisconsin-Madison

Location: Madison, Wisconsin, USA

The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is currently seeking applications for a full-time, fully-funded tenure track faculty position in the Department of Medical History and Bioethics at any rank. We seek a colleague with an active research program and teaching interests that complement existing areas in biomedical ethics, health and society, and medical history. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience in and commitment to clinical ethics, and to candidates with the potential for leadership of the Bioethics Program.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is a major research university with leadership in stem cell research, translational medicine, international health, environmental health, and nanotechnology, in addition to special attention to public health, family medicine and rural health. The Department has faculty trained in philosophy, law, medicine, anthropology, disability studies, medical history, and welcomes scholars who have interests in working with an interdisciplinary core of researchers.

Candidates must have a graduate degree in medicine, nursing, law, philosophy, social sciences, public health, or other disciplines relevant to bioethics. Joint appointments with other campus units will be considered as appropriate. Interested candidates should send a cover letter, a curriculum vita, and contact information for three references. The committee will begin reviewing applications Dec 16, 2008.
