Global VP Health Economics and Regulatory Affairs, United Kingdom
Location: UK
Job Purpose
This is a new role within the business and the job holder will be a member of the Leadership Team for the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) that was formed in 2006.
This SBU is made up of approximately 100 specialists setting global strategy on:
- Portfolio
- Value Proposition / Network
- Pricing
- Global Marketing
- New Product Development and New Technology
- Healthcare Systems - Reimbursement, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical and Health Economics
The SBU Leadership Team are encouraged to think as business leaders first and functional heads second, and the person undertaking this role will have every opportunity to learn about and contribute to the overall direction of the business.
The SBU interfaces with the Regional sales teams and other functional departments on a day to day basis and this senior leadership role will be expected to possess highly developed influencing and inter-personal skills to be effective.
The VP has responsibility for 4 key areas (Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Research, Health Economics and Reimbursement) – all critical to gaining market access for products in a complex and highly competitive environment. With 4 direct management reports, there are approximately 30 people in the SBU (predominantly in Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Research). The VP will also be responsible for proactively developing and broadening the activities undertaken in each of the four areas they lead.
Key challenges include building a global network of Healthcare Systems professionals so as to proactively influence Regulatory bodies such as Eucomed, Advamed and the PMDA in Japan. Proactive use of Health Economics is becoming a vital strategic tool and linking up with the global and local Marketing teams to drive differentiation will be a key development opportunity. Market access, different ‘payer models’ and proactive reimbursement opportunities also provide much scope to drive real impact and contribution from this role.
With a team of highly skilled clinical staff, the development of high quality evidence to support the companies leading brands is also key to maintaining the company’s’ market leadership.
