Director, Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research: Abbott

Description: The Director, Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research will be responsible for the following in support of assigned projects and products in the Pharmaceutical Products Group:

  • Defines Global HEOR strategies for the & reimbursement and optimizing demand of Abbott’s products
  • Represents Abbott at HEOR meetings to present HEOR data needs
  • Identifies and obtain HEOR data needed, and ensures that they are effectively presented to the formulary & reimbursement agencies for the products
  • Advises on Global HEOR requirements for access and demand
  • Assesses HEOR programs against HEOR regulatory requirement
  • Obtains and coordinates HEOR input into R&D programs
  • Assesses scientific data by competitor drugs and develop HEOR data need for pricing and reimbursement purposes
  • Assures compliance of evidence-based medicine and sound principles for economic and PRO assessment
  • Maintains awareness of HEOR regulatory legislation and assesses its impact on business and Abbott product development programs
  • Must be able to translate HEOR strategic direction on drug from the quarterly meetings to business opportunities for franchise and clinical teams
  • Facilitates policy and development and standard interpretation of HEOR regulations
  • Manages the preparation of core HEOR registration and formulary packages and answers to deficiency letters
  • Maintains an awareness of HEOR regulatory legislation and assesses its impact on product development programs and compliance for marketed products
  • Represents Abbott at HEOR pricing and reimbursement agency meetings
  • Provides HEOR expertise to licensing departments
  • Ensures records of filings and approvals are maintained
  • Make sure the abstracts and manuscripts are not only submitted but also accepted for publication
  • Manages project and therapeutic area budgets
  • Has direct and indirect reports.

Qualifications: Must have advance training in HEOR, 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical industry, CRO, academia or other health related consulting company. Must possess excellent technical and people management skills. Must have previous management and leadership experience, Ph.D. or MD with training in health services research
