Health Economics, Market Access, Senior Manager
Location: UK
Background
We are currently recruiting for a senior manager in Health Economics, Market Access to project manage multiple projects for a major Pharmaceutical services provider. In this role you will provide direction to and support a range of consultants covering multiple areas in Market Access, Health Economics and Outcomes Research
Primary Duties
In this highly responsible role it will be your task to review and analyse clients needs and draft appropriate proposals and flag up any associated problems that may arise from projects.
Your main duties will include:
- Drafting proposals to secure client bids.
- Developing project timelines and plans and leading projects to completion, on time and on budget.
- Serve as a point of contact between the client and consultancy
- You will have a high level of input into client presentations delivering all findings to clients in an easy to understand format.
- Coach, mentor and oversee more junior members of staff.
This is a highly strategic position that is uniquely placed within our clients organisation to give you the maximum level of exposure to both client facing and hands on economic work. You will act as a pivotal member of the team ensuring the success of projects from all angles. This is possibly the most exciting and varied position you are likely to get in this field and what’s more you’ll do it with a market leader.
Qualifications
- A higher Degree in Health Economics, Business Administration or related subject
- Significant industry experience in Health Economics, Outcome, Market Access or Pricing Reimbursement
- Excellent communication skills

Consultant Health Economist/ Pricing at a large Pharma Services Provider

This is a consultant level position with a major healthcare services provider based in the south east. Our client has a large list of top healthcare companies amongst it’s client list including all the top pharmaceutical companies and biotech’s meaning that you will be working on the most interesting projects on the market.
Primary Duties
As a consultant you will ensure that all Health Economics, Outcomes Research an Market Access/Pricing deliverables achieve their targets from both a timeline and budget perspective. As a consultant you will already have an excellent level of Health Economics Market Access knowledge and experience and will be looking to use that knowledge and experience strategically but with support from more senior members of the team.

Background
We currently have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Health Economist/Market Access Professional to join a highly successful consultancy during a period of rapid expansion. Our client works with the vast majority of Pharmaceutical and Biotech companies in the world and is considered one of the consultancies to work for.
Primary Duties
As a senior consultant it will be your task to lead teams in the design development review and analysis of HEOR projects for clients. Ensuring that they are delivered on time and meet client requirements.
As well as significant technical Health Economics and Market Access skills we are also looking for a candidate with good presentational skills as this position will involve taking technical health economics data and presenting it in a way that is easy to understand.
For this position we would expect the successful candidate to have a strong background in HEOR or Pricing and Reimbursement from either a consultancy or a Pharma/Biotech and be adept at building relationships with key decision makers.
Qualifications
- Higher Degree in Health economics or a related subject
- Strong level of experience in Health Economics or relate field.
- Excellent presenting skills.

Overview
My client is a global pharmaceutical consultancy with operations in over 30 EMEA countries alone. Health Economics and Outcomes Research is a key area within the consultancy division with a main focus on Health Economics, Epidemiology, Outcomes Research and Biostatistics. My client as has an increasing focus in Pricing and Market Access.
Manages multiple HEOR projects within the Pricing and Market Access Practice of varying complexity and ensures on-time and on-budget delivery for clients in the pharmaceutical or related industries. Contributes to achievement of team based revenue targets, new business development and maintaining and strengthening client base.
Key responsibilities
- Manages project teams including both internal and external resources in the design, development and delivery of client solutions.
- Responsible for review and analysis of client requirements or challenges and develops and costs associated proposals that ensure profitability and high client satisfaction with limited if any senior management input.
- Develops project plan with timelines and deliverables and leads project to successful completion, on-time and on-budget, from start to finish with little senior management guidance.
- Provides high level input to, and ensures the development of, client reports and presentations and delivers all or significant portions of findings to client.
- Proactively continues to strengthen subject matter expertise through on the job experience, participation in conferences and symposiums and other forums for professional knowledge sharing.
- Proactively mentors, coaches and shares subject matter expertise with others to elevate our capabilities to deliver world-class solutions for clients.
- Most likely will have line management, coaching and mentoring responsibilities.
Skills and experience
- Masters degree or doctorate with related experience including HEOR and pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry experience.
- Demonstrates excellent statistical/analytical writing/communication, and project management skills with a track record in relevant scientific publications
- Demonstrated ability to positively influence clients and build strong client relationships
- Knowledge of research methodologies, tools and techniques related to the HEOR functional area
- Works willingly and effectively with others in and across the organization to accomplish team goals and is effective working in a matrix environment.
- Experienced with developing consultative relationships with senior level managers and executives at clients in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry
- Knowledge of key issues and current developments in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries
- Excellent scientific and business writing, presentation, communication with a track record in related scientific publications
- Excellent client influencing and client relationship-building skills

Consultants are regularly involved in outcomes research, economic analysis of the possible impact of health care interventions and the natural history of a disease. With a diverse mix of clients, typically including the global top 20 pharmaceutical and biotech companies, our work spans the full spectrum of therapeutic and disease areas, providing challenge and variety for our people. A consultant typically provides high quality, timely solutions to meet our client needs. Assignments typically require problem solving, outcomes research and economic analysis, assisting in the development of more complex solutions to leading small teams and communication and dissemination of our findings.
Key responsibilities
- Supported by experienced Senior staff, reviews and analyses client requirements or problems in order to help develop proposals for cost-effective solutions
- Organises and conduct high quality primary and secondary research for clients support from colleagues
- Performs outcomes research, health economic analyses or environment analyses to assist in the identification of client issues
- Support specific business initiatives
Qualifications
A good grounding in health care research, economics, health economics, or a related discipline is essential - this may be through academic study or gained from on-the-job experience. An MSc/MPhil/PhD in economics/health economics health services research or a relevant related area is desirable.
Skills & Experience
- Post graduate work experience in a related area such as economics, health economics, statistics, psychology or science
- Experience of working in health economics/outcomes research/health services research.
- Basic understanding of outcomes research and/or economic theory with preferably some applied experience
- Good understanding of and interest in the international health care environment
- Some commercial awareness - basic understanding of the health technology and pharmaceutical industry
- Pragmatist with problem solving approach to projects
- Able to deliver high quality work within timeline
- Excellent presentation, communication and client influencing skills
