Associate Director, Health Systems: The Rockefeller Foundation

Location: Bangkok, Thailand

The Rockefeller Foundation (RF) works around the world to promote the well-being of humanity by expanding opportunities for poor and vulnerable people. With assets of almost $4 billion, it is one of the largest private foundations.

Working as part of a global team and reporting to the Managing Director in New York, the Associate Director serves as the point person in Asia for overseeing and managing the Asian component of the RF’s Health Systems initiatives. The successful candidate will play a key role in initiatives addressing the role of the private sector in health systems as well as with issues related to e-health, competencies for the 21st century for health professionals, and ongoing pandemics in the Mekong region. Individual will work with diverse grantees and funding partners; handling coordination of activities among partners, facilitating information flows among cities and partners, and providing updates and summaries to RF staff in NY. This individual may also serve on other initiative teams as needed. Must possess an advanced degree (MD, Ph.D., MPH, MBA) in an area related to Health Systems, Economics and/or Public Policy

Additional required qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 10 years related work experience in health systems and/or international development, including at least 5 years in a managerial capacity
  • Creativity and the ability to apply a new perspective to problems and opportunities
  • Track record of turning ideas into measurable outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, outlining options, presenting position papers that articulate a well-supported point-of-view and point to concrete actions
  • Leadership and management experience in complex organizations, and managing teams focused on a broad range of strategic initiatives and programs. Experience setting priorities in dynamic environments
  • Experience developing, managing and implementing multi-party projects with defined objectives, deliverables, monitoring and evaluation of results
  • Experience with evaluative research methods helpful
  • The ability to travel extensively
