Health Economist / Consultant: GFA Consulting Group

Location: Hamburg, Germany

Frequent travel to African & Asian countries

GFA Medica is part of the worldwide operating German consulting firm GFA Consulting Group. We plan and implement health projects in developing and transitional economies. Currently we are looking for a Health Economist / Consultant who will contribute to the following key activities:

  • Developing our expertise in health economics and health financing;
  • Managing the full project cycle: identification of contract opportunities, tender preparation, project management, financial and technical administration, monitoring and evaluation of health projects and studies;
  • Undertaking short-term technical assistance assignments as well as project related backstopping missions in the field of health economics and health financing;
  • With regard to our partners and clients: establishing and maintaining networks and professional relationships with donor agencies, beneficiaries, partner companies or institutions, subcontractors and individual experts;
  • Contributing to the GFA knowledge management system (in-house discussion groups, Intra-/ Extranet based communication and information platforms).

Applicants should have:

  • University degree in Economics and/or Public Health
  • 3 - 5 years relevant professional experience in developing countries, experience in development assistance projects would be an asset
  • Good knowledge of health economics and health financing
  • Proven ability to work with professionals in a multicultural context, and willingness to travel.
  • Language requirements: Full proficiency in English, good working knowledge of French, at least basic knowledge of German
  • Competence in the use of standard MS Office applications, including Excel
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in teams.
