Research Analyst, United Kingdom: DxCG

DxCG is the science division of Urix, Inc., a leading provider of business intelligence and predictive modeling solutions in health care designed to promote fair and efficient health care through the use of its state-of-the-art predictive models. DxCG is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.
Over the last few years, DxCG’s international business has grown dramatically, particularly in the United Kingdom and Germany. In January 2006, the German Physician Payment Commission selected DxCG to develop a German version of its risk assessment tool for a health-based payment system to be used in the German statutory health insurance program. More recently, in August of 2007, the German Federal Ministry of Health (Bundesministerium für Gesundheit or BMG) began working with DxCG to utilize the DxCG methodology to implement a national risk adjustment system.
In the United Kingdom, DxCG scientists have been working with the King’s Fund and other strategic partners in evaluating the usage of DxCG risk adjustment methodologies in the UK system. These activities coupled with other sizable research opportunities in the United Kingdom, have created an immediate opening for a Research Analyst, based in either a home office or our London office to support the growth of DxCG products and services in the region. While the Research Analyst will primarily be focusing on UK initiatives, he/she will support activities in other regions and will collaborate with our newly created DxCG analytic team in Germany.
The Research Analyst will join a team that maintains a reputation as one of the top analytics groups in health care informatics. The successful candidate will demonstrate a unique blend of business savvy, entrepreneurial spirit, and analytics expertise and will play an important role in leading the development of the next generation of DxCG products and services in the UK.
Responsibilities
Working with DxCG Senior Scientists in Boston and Germany, the Research Analyst will design and implement research projects to further the growth of DxCG’s predictive science and development of DxCG’s product suite, particularly as it relates to the UK market.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Update regression and other statistical models and methodologies for risk assessment/adjustment;
- Assist and support senior scientists in developing new models and methodologies;
- Program in SAS as needed for specific projects, including reading raw data into SAS datasets, writing summary statistics reports on data quality, and creating the variables needed for modeling from the raw data;
- Monitor data sets and data output for quality and integrity.
- Interface with and present research results to appropriate players in the UK system, including the NHS, King’s Fund and various other research groups.
- Become skilled in our various software packages and be comfortable producing and interpreting results
Qualifications
- Skilled using statistical packages, preferably SAS, on large data sets
- Interest/experience in risk adjustment and outcomes research
- Interest in growing current skill set to learn more advanced statistical modeling
- Good oral and written communications skills, self-starter while at the same time being a good team player
- Experience inside a health-information processing organization is a plus
- Masters in economics, statistics, or health services research with 3-5 years work experience; PhD can be substituted for work experience
