Faculty Position - Assistant Professor (Health Policy): University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC)

The Department of Public Policy at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for a full-time faculty position (assistant-professor tenure-track) in health policy. We welcome candidates with strong data analysis skills who have earned a Ph.D. or its equivalent in public policy, economics, political science, sociology, health policy, health services research, or public health. Successful applicants will advise masters and doctoral students with diverse interests in health policy, teach courses relating to health policy as well as core courses in public policy, and generate and sustain a research agenda. Candidates should indicate their interest and/or record in securing external funding in their application letters.
UMBC, which is classified as a Doctoral/Research Extensive University by the Carnegie Foundation, enrolls more than 12,000 students, including 2,500 graduate students. UMBC is located on 500 wooded, rolling acres just outside of Baltimore and about 45 minutes from Washington, D.C. The Department of Public Policy is an interdisciplinary program that enrolls approximately 125 Ph.D. and 50 Master’s degree students. Faculty in the department are encouraged to develop close working relationships with relevant research centers on campus, including the Center for Health Program Development and Management, Maryland Institute for Policy Analysis and Research, Center for Urban Environmental Research and Education, and Center for Aging Studies. Faculty also have the opportunity to develop working relationships with faculty in other social sciences departments at UMBC, and with the Intercampus Doctoral Program in Gerontology.
