We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in the areas of Health Economics and Policy. You will have contact with collaborating researchers based at Monash and Deakin Universities in Melbourne, WHO Geneva and policy-makers in the South Australian Department of Health. You will also have the opportunity to lead a small team of researchers under the supervision of the principal researchers. The project spans all major types of economic evaluation and is rooted in the idea of evidence-based policy making with a direct link to policy-makers. It presents an ideal opportunity for an early career researcher to establish themself as an independent researcher.
You should have:
- a PhD in health economics or in a related economic discipline OR in public health with an * additional qualification in health economics
- the ability to pursue independent research
- good understanding of economic evaluation techniques
Salary: (Level A) $52,024 - $63,361 per annum.
An employer superannuation contribution of 9% applies.
This fixed-term position is available from 1 November 2007 to 31 October 2010.

Statistician / Econometrician

- A Masters in Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, or a similar discipline
- An interest in health-related research

Senior Specialist Health Outcomes Research: Sanofi Pasteur MSD

For the continued development of our Health Outcomes Research Group within the Market Access Department in Berlin, we are currently looking for a Senior Specialist Health Outcomes Research.
Responsibilities
- Development of high quality value propositions to support the recommendation and reimbursement of newly developed vaccines
- Planning, realisation and coordination of economic evaluations, models and QoL-studys in collaboration with external research institutes
- project management and design of health technology assessment reports
- Building up and strengthening contacts with external opinion leaders
- Support of reimbursement efforts on a national and regional level and cooperation with external stakeholders (politicians, opinion leaders, decision makers at health insurance funds)
- Scientific publication and presentation of results of studies and projects both in German and English
- close cooperation with the departments Sales, Commercial, Marketing, Market Research, Medical and Regulatory Affairs in SPMSD-Germany
- Positioning of the German view in European teams regarding concepts, adaptation and implementation of health outcome studies conducted by SPMSD-Europe
- early detection of market changes and their implications for our product portfolio
- Compilation of documents to support and train the colleagues in and outside the Market Access Department
- Close cooperation with and training of a Junior Specialist in Health Outcome research
Training - Professional experience
- Degree in Science, Medicine, Economics or Business Administration (preferably with postgraduate studies in public health and clear focus on methods in evaluative outcome research)
- several years of working experience at a university, in public service or the pharmaceutical industry
- Wide knowledge in health outcome research, epidemiology, mathematics and statistics is necessary as well as profound knowledge of the German health care system

- Very good skills in scientific writing
Technical knowledge
- Fluently written and spoken German

PhD Scholarships in Health Economics and Policy: The University of Adelaide, Australia

Applications are invited for two full-time postgraduate scholarships leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health. Joint supervision with the School of Economics is also a possibility. Suitably qualified candidates will have an honours degree, or equivalent, in economics and/or a health related discipline. For applicants without a degree in economics, an honours or postgraduate degree in health economics or health policy is desirable.
The scholarships are supported by the South Australian Department of Health’s Strategic Health Research Program. While based at The University of Adelaide the candidates will also have contact with collaborating health economics researchers based at Monash and Deakin Universities in Melbourne, WHO Geneva and health policy makers in the SA Department of Health. Applicants should have a particular interest in the wider policy implications of health economics research.
Field of Study: Effective strategies to reduce the costs of overweight and obesity to South Australia, led by Prof Christian Gericke and A/Prof John Moss at the University of Adelaide.
Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian or New Zealand Citizens or permanent residents of Australia who are acceptable as candidates for a PhD degree at the University of Adelaide.
Stipend: The scholarship will be for the period of 3 years and has a stipend of $ 25,118 per annum (ARC rate). It is likely to be tax exempt, subject to Taxation Office approval.?
