Chief Scientist, European Operations: DxCG
Location: Frankfurt or Berlin, Germany
DxCG is the science division of Urix, Inc., a leading provider of business intelligence and predictive modeling solutions in health care designed to promote fair and efficient health care through the use of its state-of-the-art predictive models. DxCG is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.
Over the last few years, DxCG’s international business has grown dramatically, particularly in Germany and the United Kingdom. In January 2006, the German Physician Payment Commission selected DxCG to develop a German version of its risk assessment tool for a health-based payment system to be used in the German statutory health insurance program. More recently, in August of 2007, the German Federal Ministry of Health (Bundesministerium für Gesundheit or BMG) began working with DxCG to utilize the DxCG methodology to implement a national risk adjustment system. These activities coupled with sizable opportunities in the United Kingdom and beyond, have created an immediate opening for a Chief Scientist, based in either Frankfurt or Berlin, to support the growth of DxCG products and services in the region.
The Chief Scientist will join a team that maintains a reputation as one of the top analytics groups in health care informatics. The successful candidate will demonstrate a unique blend of business savvy, entrepreneurial spirit, and analytics expertise and will play an important role in leading the development of the next generation of DxCG products and services in Europe.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop and nurture relationships with key players in the German statutory and private health insurance programs, including the BMG, KBV, regional KVs, sickness funds and sickness fund associations, hospital associations.
- Develop relationships with university-based professors and other researchers involved in risk adjustment. This will include attendance and participation at conferences, such as the International Health Economics Association and European Conferences on Health Economics.
- Serve as the first point of contact and Account Manager for all non-academic installations of DxCG products and services.
- Support and serve as a local point of contact for DxCG’s current project with the BMG.
- Provide analytical training and support to customers based in Europe.
- Serve as project manager for consulting projects involving DxCG’s European customers.
- Oversee and coordinate the translation of marketing materials and user documentation.
- Develop localization specifications for DxCG software.
- Develop programs for DxCG educational sessions in Europe.
Our ideal candidate will have a background in risk adjustment and predictive modeling with at least 5 years of econometric modeling and/or statistical analysis and at least 5 years of experience working with German health care claims data. Must have a degree in health economics or statistics, PhD preferred. Must be proficient in German and English. Additional languages (especially French and Spanish) are a plus. Also, a familiarity with German and EU privacy laws and regulations governing the use of health care data are a plus.
This position will be located in Germany, preferably Berlin or Frankfurt. Approximately 15% European travel (primarily Germany) with initial extended travel to our headquarters in Boston for orientation and training. Salary is commensurate with experience.
