Manager, Health Economics and Pricing: Roche Molecular Diagnostics

This position manages the evaluation, development, definition and implementation of sound economic value and pricing strategies for assigned product portfolio that enables Roche Molecular Diagnostics to select, develop and market innovative molecular diagnostic tests. As a core member of lifecycle and international business teams, the successful candidate will work closely with clinical, medical, business functions and key country organizations to optimize market strategies for rapid market adoption and establishment of optimal reimbursement/pricing of new products and price maintenance of existing product portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for early economic evaluation of potential product portfolio candidates, definition of global pricing and reimbursement strategies for important new products, the development of a comprehensive product value argumentation consisting of clinical, laboratory and economic evidence to support pricing, reimbursement/funding and market & competitive positioning, and the implementation & control of global pricing policies, strategies & tactics.

Duties for his/her assigned product portfolio include:

  • coordinating the development of economic value and pricing strategies of pipeline products and ensuring the development of required evidence (patient outcome, medical utility, economic) to substantiate pricing & reimbursement strategies;
  • serving as a key member of the lifecycle and international business teams responsible for all pricing & economic value strategy matters;
  • leading the development of the global pricing & reimbursement strategies and establishing of pricing guidelines and the development of appropriate models and communication tools in support thereof;
  • ensuring alignment and facilitating pricing activities of the country organizations worldwide through timely communication of product value argumentation, establishment of country Average Unit Prices and support of major market development and revenue opportunities;
  • monitoring and control of price trends of launched portfolio and adherence to established pricing guidelines; supporting the head, health economics & pricing on projects to strengthen the functional area;
  • and maintaining detailed knowledge of all market conditions that impact on specific product areas, including competition, regulatory, reimbursement and medical/clinical/lab environments.

The successful candidate will have a BS/BA in a life sciences field, Business or Economics, preferably with an MBA, MPH or other advanced degree in Health Economics or a related field with minimum 5 years professional experience in healthcare with a strong focus on economic value analysis & strategy development and pricing/reimbursement within in vitro diagnostics, medical devices, pharmaceutical industry or consulting. Several years of experience in a pharmaceutical company in a similar role with an oncology focus is a plus. We are in search of a creative and innovative team player with strong strategic, analytical and business skills; excellent communication and leadership skills; solid understanding of the financial implications of various pricing and reimbursement strategies; and in-depth knowledge of the key healthcare markets and reimbursement/funding approaches, application of health economics and establishment of the economic value to payers and medical decision makers. Must also be able to travel up to 25% of the time.
